  1. Virginia payne Says:

Thank you all so much for standing strong. I am trying to get a trip together to DC with friends and family to stand in support! It is totally wonderful to see our Republican Representatives echoing the thoughts of their constituents and demanding action be taken. My wallet, which has most forcefully been closed prior to now, is beginning to open once again for the GOP.

    God bless!

  2. Peggy Thompson Says:

Thank God someone in Congress is listening.
My Congressman Dale Kildee has never acknowledged my e-mails. The lack of an energy policy is killing General Motors he doesn’t appear to care. Carl Levin doesn’t care either he’s in the Hamptons I guess? Stabenow sends out form letter of her concern, she’s got a million of them.
They don’t get it when GM collapses all our jobs here collapse in the process. No one is buying cars or trucks they are waiting to see which way the wind blows.
And how are we to cut electricity and buy a million electric cars at the same time?
Please keep up the good fight I am praying for a few good Republicans to be sent our before Jenifer Granholm blows us all away. So I understand how hard it is for you to get attention from the press.
We are listening. Stand you ground!
    DRILL HERE-DRILL NOW.

  3. Stan King Says:

Thanks for your efforts. The solution is obvious; drill here, drill now and then we all can pay less. Only a fool would approach the problem like the Rats propose…but then again I repeat myself.

  4. Daniel Schwartz Says:

Many thanks to you all! Please continue to keep their feet to the fire.

And feel free to tell Speaker Pelosi this:

“Until the U.S. opens its offshore waters to oil drilling, it will be seen as the world’s worst energy hypocrite.”

    http://www.american.com/archive/2008/july-07-08/oily-hypocrisy

It’s good for America, and it’s even good for America’s image! But it seems to be bad for Democrats — specifically, for Democrats who put their party ahead of their country.

Time is on your side, if you just keep fighting. You are speaking for the American people… and Speaker Pelosi is not!

    respectfully,
    Daniel Schwartz
    Brookline, MA

  5. Rachelle Says:

Keep up the pressure! Stand strong for the American people….it’s about time you guys started listening to us! We will win in November if you can keep hammering home the issue of utilizing our OWN resources…and NOT giving any more money to those who would kill us! Expose the Dems for what they are: phonies, hypocrites, elitists, out of touch, arrogant, with no solutions….only obstructions!
DON’T GO ON VACATION….THIS SACRIFICE WILL PAY OFF HUGELY IN THE LONG RUN!

  6. David R. Cox Says:

I am a former democrat very proud of all the Republican leadership for standing strong on behalf of the American people. I am beyond confused at how Democrat’s think their action will do anything but destroy our country’s economy. In my view, America should drill for oil everywhere and bcome the energy producer for the world. Why would we leave such a valuable commodity in the ground when our citizens should be benefiting from it?

I will be donating to the Republican party today.

  7. Catherine Crotty Says:

Thank you so much for standing up for us in the house! We must start drilling for oil. Please urge Sen. McCain to join you on the Capitol steps to make sure this gets publicity for him and for you. God bless you.

  8. Susan in Oregon Says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I’m sure everyone wishes they could take a break and enjoy family. Obviously, breaks and self interest are more important to the Speaker and her minions than working toward solutions for the American people. I wonder when the voters who elected this lame group will get a clue and oust them.

I am taking note of each and everyone who is manning this effort. I’ll only support those who are paying attention to what American voters want.

  9. Florence and Dan Moyer Says:

Keep up the great work and thank you so much for representing the American people so wonderfully! And for giving up a vacation to do it. My husband and I applaud your efforts and greatly appreciate you.

We are furious that Pelosi is blocking this vote and thus the ability of the people to be represented. Her and others willingness to let this country fall apart and get poorer and poorer is frightening. The whole electric car scenario, as someone mentioned earlier, does not make sense either–especially while some parts of the country already cannot meet the demand for electricity. At any rate, please, please stand firm.
    Thanks!

  10. lisa menard Says:

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!! I truly don’t care that Fred Barnes and the like are calling this a “stunt”–it’s a fantastic one! As Michelle Obama would say…”first time I have been proud…’ of my Republicans in Congress–at least for a long time! Keep it up ladies and gents! John Boehner–you are a true PATRIOT! and all of those with you!! I sincerely believe this is the way our founding fathers would have wanted you to act! Keep it up! and if I can get to Washington (8 hour drive–but gas has come down even more today)–I will come and support!! What a wonderful history lesson for my children! God Bless you and your efforts!

  11. Steve Flickinger Says:

This makes me proud to be and Ohioan. The GOP has finally found its footing. Help out McCain and press on. Drill now!!

  12. Infidel Granny Says:

    Thank you, thank you.

I am so very proud of all of you. And I will be sending $ to the RNC now. Wasn’t going to until this. IMPRESSIVE. By the way, I live in northern MI. Comrade Pelosi will be in Ann Arbor for a book signing at 7 PM on 8/7/08. BORDERS BOOKS 612 EAST LIBERTY ST., ANN ARBOR,MI 48104 (734) 668-7652. Who will be there to join me? It is a 2 hr drive for me but I am going with a picket sign. It will say that I expect her to get back to Washington to do her job. We have her by the short and curly’s now. Do not let go!

  13. Jim in Phx Says:

Thank you for keeping YOUR promise and staying in Washington today. I was disgusted at what Speaker Pelosi did last week and the things that she said on tv over the weekend.

Speaker Pelosi says her main goal is to get us off foreign oil yet doesn’t want to talk about it and vote. She obviously want us paying high gas prices right through the election months in hopes that we will attribute the blame to the GOP and President Bush. If Congress approves future drilling, prices start to go down, and her Party doesn’t get as many votes as it might if nothing changes. Her strategy is a reprehensible political ploy.

I have also just sent a message to my representative from 6th District Az R-Jeff Flake urging him to return to Washington if he is not there already to support you.

Thank you again for representing America.

  14. Douglas Pratt Says:

I read my daughter this story (the report on Michele Malkin’s web site and some from Politico) this afternoon. Valerie is a high school debater who went to Nationals last year, and deeply interested in politics. I often marvel at how lucky I am to have a 15 year old kid whose hero is Ann Coulter.

I knew she’d enjoy the story, but her response surprised me: “Let’s go!” So I called Frank Wolf’s office and his staff very kindly set aside two tickets to the House gallery for us. We searched for the various live-blogs and Youtube and Twitter sites as we were driving from home in VA to the nearest Metro station, to stay informed. The folks at Wolf’s office were super helpful. By the time we got to the House gallery, it was after 4pm and the entrance was closed.

We’ll be back tomorrow! Meanwhile we’re searching the Web and documenting as much as we can…especially the trickle of MSM coverage that is being squeezed out reluctantly by the people-powered Internet connections. That could be the real story here, how we can use all these wonderful communications tools to take back the country’s agenda.

Give ‘em hell, people…we’re behind you all the way!

  15. Kristin G. Says:

Know that even though the cameras are off people are listening! YouTube is a powerful tool, and I’ve been watching the speeches on there. Drudgereport has links to updates. I’m with you 100%! Keep it up! Don’t stop!!!!!

I’d love to see this last through the entire time Pelosi and her bunch are on vacation. The longer it goes on, the more apparent it becomes she and her ilk just don’t care about the average American.

Can’t wait to read more updates about TRUE AMERICANS who care for their consituents!

  16. The Boston Tea Party: Edition 2008 « Thespis Journal Says:

[…] 4, 2008 · No Comments Republican House Leader, John Boehner has posted updates on the uprising in the House of Representatives relative to the need to drill now for more oil. […]

  17. Gary Martin Says:

    John, etall:

Yourself and all the other reps participating in this effort to bring Congress back for a vote on energy and drilling off shore are a blessing from God!

Drill Here Drill Now!! This is what the American People want. We are here and we are behind you. All of you. What ever this takes is worth it … your support is growing out here in the still Red States. We haven’t gone anywhere we’re still the same Regan Conservatives that make this Nation great.

Talk radio is getting the story of your effort out to the American people … Bortz, Limbaugh, Hanity, and the rest.

This effort will pay ten fold in the focus it puts on the Democrats and probably the only way to force their hand on drilling offshore.

    DRILL HERE DRILL NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Regards,

    Gary Martin

  18. Joe Stephens Says:

Gentlemen: Thank you for taking a stand for your country. This issue is one that crosses all economic and cultural boundaries. It is an issue that will have profound consequences on all aspects of the security of our nation. It is an issue than can have a ground shaking effect on the political landscape if you are steadfast in your efforts.

President Bush led this effort 3 weeks ago by removing the executive order banning drilling on the OCS and ANWR, and other locations. In the 3 weeks since the Democrat leaders of Congress in the Senate and the House have poked their finger into the eyes of the citizens of this country by ignoring their desire for drilling. They have done absolutely nothing to ease the pain of sky high energy prices. The economy is quaking and they do nothing. The travel industry, automobile industry, trucking industry, and other energy intensive industries are under severe economic stress and the Democrats do nothing. Poor and working Americans find their family budgets and jobs under assault and worry how they are going to pay their heating transportation, shelter and even their food bills this winter, and the Democrats do nothing. Tomorrow will be 22 days since the President did his part and the Democrats are on vacation. How many more days will the American people have to wait for the Democrat leadership to act. Every day that they are on vacation is one day closer to the day of a personal tragedy for an American citizen that might have been avoided. It may be a lost job by an autoworker or airline employee. It may be an American in the northeast whose electricity is cut off for non-payment. It may be a young girl who has to drop out of college because of the strain on her family’s budget. But for the Democrat leadership their spurious explanations and political posturing not to mention their vacations are more important than representing the people who elected them to office. This is irresponsible and borders on malfeasance.

You men of the Republican caucus are men of principle and of courage. Stay the course and stand your ground. You are the champions of those you represent and you are now the true leaders of the House of Representatives. My prayers are with you.

    Joe Stephens
    St. Louis, MO

  19. R J Bohls Says:

    Sir,
I thank you and your fellow members who are listening. As a young American I am deeply concerned with the direction this country is taking. The time to focus on America is now. Our economy is in jepardy, higher taxes and taxing business is not the answer. More bail out “programs” is not the answer. Smaller government is, drilling in our country, self relaince is the answer. So keep making the effort on our behalf and you will find those of our here the democratic party thinks are ignorant, will stand behind you…and we are alot smarter than the elite democratic party thinks.

  20. Randall Lowe Says:

I commented on a past blog entry and I’ll comment on this, and future ones - you have my unwavering support! Please keep this going, and don’t give up the fight until we’ve won. Even if the price of crude and gasoline are cut in half, we need to keep this going because we all know what’s at stake if we stop the battle for an independent future now.

    Cheers!

  21. Vincent Griego Says:

Fantastic. It is time for republicans to step up and make a positive move towards leading this country. Drill Now!!!!!!!!

  22. Jocelyn Horton Says:

    Go, Republicans, Go!!

Thank you for standing up for Americans. You are doing a great job. It’s great to see you representing the people who voted you into office, unlike the Democrats who would rather vacation than do what they were elected to do.

    Keep up the good work!

  23. Darren Boyd Says:

All we are asking for is a vote. We have a fundamental right to have our voices heard. Do they not remember our founding documents?

“Each House may determine the rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two thirds, expel a member.”

“Each House shall keep a journal of its proceedings, and from time to time publish the same, excepting such parts as may in their judgment require secrecy; and the yeas and nays of the members of either House on any question shall, at the desire of one fifth of those present, be entered on the journal.”

“Neither House, during the session of Congress, shall, without the consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days, nor to any other place than that in which the two Houses shall be sitting. ”

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. ”

It just amazes me that in this age of information technology they think they can do this and not suffer any repercussions….

    Darren

  24. Arlene Applegate Says:

Big American Oil = Big American Jobs, Big American paychecks, Big health insurance,

Big Amercian Oil Profits = Big soild tax base, Big American pensions, Big 401k

Keep the heat on for us in NJ .. Our reps are out to lunch!

  25. Kathy Kreh Says:

I so much appreciate what you all are doing to force a vote for drilling. This is just fabulous. I want you all to know that I am so proud to be a republican right now. Keep it up please! We need to get the majority back for republicans in Congress.

  26. Trish (Patricia) McNamara Says:

Stand strong- we the people believe that this is the course to take! Thank you for defending our honor, and keep the pressure on Pelosi and her wing nuts. There is no reason for her to have gone on vacation, without addressing this and signing it through! God Bless you and America too! Drill on!

  27. Bill Says:

    Two thoughts:

    1. Speaker Newt Gingrich got into a lot of trouble for a book deal while he was Speaker of the House.

    2. Sign the petition Drill Here, Drill Now!!!

Please think about these and act!

  28. Jennifer Says:

    Representatives,
I’m happy for what you’re doing. I just wish you would’ve done it sooner. A little earlier than “last minute before vacation starts”.

I am a conservative. I will vote conservative. I just wish you guys would’ve woken up & realized the mess we’re all in years ago, rather than waiting until August 1 to stand up.

Like others, I’d love to stand on the House floor with you, and sing “God Bless America.” Unfortunately, can’t afford the vacation time or the cross-country travel to get there. Gas prices are too high to accomodate such a vacation.

I tell you what I’ve told the McCain campaign - Lower my fuel bill, and I’ll send you the difference for a month’s worth of travel. Until then, it’s all I can do to get by.

  29. Jon Milan Says:

This effort shouldn’t go unnoticed, but your work is being buried by the MSM. The blogs are keeping up the news, though!

Thanks to ALL of you for working toward a REAL solution to America’s energy independence!

AUGUST 1 should be known in history as Energy Independence Day!

  30. Right Wing Nation » Blog Archive » GOP Still Working Says:

[…] Democrats still at the Mall. Boehner upates. […]

  31. Barb Says:

I would like to say thank you so very much for your efforts!
I do not understand how the democrats can leave on a five week vacation knowing that many Americans are hurting. I thought they were the care all be all for the poor. Who do they think they are hurting?
Hopefully this will open people’s eyes on who really keep cares for the American people.
    One other thing….
Watch yourselves when they do come back.
They will spin it to their advantage and the main stream media will help them get their talking points out.
Thanks again and god bless you all!

  32. Paul Congilaro Says:

We the people have been sold out for many years. This is just a start, drill here, drill now!

    Please take back our country.

    Paul C.

  33. Linda DeAngelis Says:

Thank you! Thank You! For your efforts for finally giving the issue of energy independence the attention that Americans have been begging our representatives to give to it.
Like a previous poster, income in our household is also from the automotive industry and unfortunately the job is already scheduled to be illiminated next June. We fear that this current high jump in fuel prices will undoubtedly hasten that and with 2 kids in college we need that income as long as we can hold onto it.
Thank you again, I wish I could afford to take a day off from my job to stand in unity with other Americans on the floor of the People’s House to get this issue resolved so that we can break free from the dependence on foreign countries for our energy needs and our children can look forward to a brighter future.

  34. Alan Christoffels Says:

Keep up the good work! It’s refreshing to see TRUE republicans that have the courage to stand up for the average AMERICAN citizen.Just remember you are representing millions of Americans who are having a hard time living with 4 dollar a gallon gasoline, and they are watching you to see what you will do. Make them proud, hang in there.Thank you for what you are doing. Alan Christoffels

  35. Krista Burns Says:

    Dear GOP Representatives,
Thank you for taking this fight to Pelosi and the rest of the Sierra Club beholding members of the House. I am represented by a member who supports: taxing oil companies, sueing OPEC, and mandating my fuel choices. She is completely out of touch with how the either the economy works and the needs of her constituents.

Nancy Pelosi can turn out the lights, but this party is far from over. Keep up the good fight for the American People. I appreciate all your efforts!

  36. Sue Guess Says:

Hooray for the Republicans! A hearty thanks to all of you for having the courage stay in Washington and bring the voters’ attention to what the Democrats are doing to prevent lower gas prices in this country. Keep it up! The American people are behind you all the way!!

  37. Ron Viehe Says:

Please continue your enthusiastic efforts. It makes all of the sense in the world and once again I feel a stirring of pride to be a Republican.

Would this be a good time for a few million man march on DC? I have the time and interest.
    Ron

  38. Nancy LaGrande Says:

I am so grateful that you are taking a stand for us. For too long we’ve allowed the liberal politicians, the messengers of polical correctness, and the liberal media to flog us into submission. Because we’re basically a civilized group who resort to intellectual exchange rather than rabble rousing, we’ve not been taken seriously. Times change and our tactics need to change, too.

Thank you for taking a political risk; thank you for having the courage to speak for us.

  39. Barbara Clinkscales Says:

I have been so disgusted with the seemingly gutless Republicans in our government - except for President Bush, that is. He has repeatedly taken the heat of all the vicious attacks on us from the Demowits.

I am ashamed to admit that I have been ignorant of what has been going on in Washington. Mainly because of being so disgusted with my government officials in the past that I could care less about hearing any news at all about all the political posturing & seemingly false representation that goes on in Washington. But I did hear that Pe-loser,(yes, she is a REAL LOSER in my opinion!) cut the power on the Republicans!! HOW DARE SHE!! And how dare she think for one moment that I will let her get by with it!!!! People, I can really get passionate about this and stand with you in this.
    DRILL HERE. DRILL NOW.
AND…. DRILL PELOSI & her contemptable little supporters!!!!

I am so doggone proud of you guys, real men & patriots, & real women (if there are any protesting with you) for standing up to her and STANDING UP FOR ME!!!!!! I will find out the names of all those PROTESTING FOR ME & give them my heartfelt thanks. God bless you one & all!!!!

REMEMBER: I ELECTED YOU. I PUT YOU IN OFFICE FOR ME.
NOW, I am so proud that you are holding this protest FOR ME. I am stating it this way because, lets face it, I am only one person, but I want to take personal responsibility for putting you there. And, I want you to take personal responsibility for doing the right thing. Standing in my stead - doing the right thing!!
Don’t fail me. Not when I’m just beginning to feel hopeful!!!! You are in my hopes & prayers.

Please stand strong & mighty on my behalf. You cannot imagine how encouraged I am by my representatives doing what you are doing. Uh, I DO HOPE MY REPRESENTATIVES ARE PART OF THIS EFFORT - because I will find out very soon whether or not they are. If they are not, I fully intend to scald them good & plenty!!!

As I stated earlier, I have been very disgusted with our Party for a long time now. And, consequently, have steadfastly refused to financially support our Republican Party - for a long time now.

God Bless You All & Please Continue to be the light that exposes the darkness of the Demorats.

Gee, can you tell I am passionate about this????
Don’t fail me. Don’t fail all the other Americans that are supporting & praying for you.

I leave you with this: Per Deuteronomy 31:5 - I pray “the LORD will deliver them up before you” and most notably, Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.” Don’t fail me & my fellow Americans.

Thank you again, and again, & over and over again!!! Okay, I’ve got to stop now. I’ve expended all my heartfelt energy for now. But, I’ll be back!!!!

  40. Ronda Says:

WAY TO GO, GUYS! Thank you for staying to try to force this issue to a vote!! It proves, once again, how unconcerned the Dems are about our pocketbooks out here! KEEP IT COMING!!!

  41. Jeanne Says:

Thank-You Newt for e-mailing me and giving me this website. Thank you so much all of the beautiful GOP leaders who is holding the Pelosi’s of the world and all there ilk feet to the fire! I wish I could get to Ann Arbor at her “Book Signing” (Amazing how she has all this time on her hands) and storm her with how stupid she really is! Yes, I said STUPID!!!!! God Bless You All and especially my congressman, Peter Roskom!! DRILL HERE…DRILL NOW!!!!! what a lesson for my grandkids!

  42. James K. Merklin Says:

Thank you all, Blessed Republicans, we want to bless all Americans. I’m so proud to be a conservative who knows that the Democrats in both houses are the most incompetent of all time, nothing points that fact out more than the “Speaker” and the two Senators from our State who are all worthless obstructionists. Keep up the Good fight, Millions of people are behind you in Spirit if not in Person. God Bless you and all Americans in our Great Country.

  43. LtCol Brad Shultis, USMC Says:

    …but the “Lady” ‘…has a planet to save…!’”

She, and the Democrat cowards running the Congress should be honest enough to allow an open vote on this issue, BEFORE THE ELECTIONS, so that each and every Member must run on their voting record and not hide behind the skirt of the Speaker (who, as we know, has an iron-clad re-election from her ultra-liberal voting base in San Francisco).

What is more, the President should exercise the power and authority vested in him by the Constitution and ORDER THE CONGRESS BACK IN SESSION TO DEAL WITH THIS EMERGENCY! I’m a die-hard conservative, but I cannot for the life of me understand why he refuses to take a tough stand and force HIS WILL upon the Congress, in a true demonstration of LEADERSHIP.

  44. Nancy Says:

With little or no media coverage we are still out here and know that you’re fighting for us — all of us. I see no recent comments have been made; people get lazy, but even if they’re not saying it, they’re grateful, too.

    By the way, where’s Boehner?

  45. Malcolm Van Ness Says:

Energy definitely is a hot topic right now. Good luck

  46. Nancy Says:

I’ve been faxing Nancy Pelosi requesting that she park her government-sponsored jet and return to Congress to discuss the energy bill. I’ve called the President and my New York representatives.

You are not alone in this fight — a fight, to my eyes, which goes beyond the energy bill. We are wresting back our government from self-serving liberals who have gotten away with too much for too long. And, it is the common man who has paid the price.

I have felt abandoned by the Republican party for a long time. I blamed you for not taking a stronger stance against affirmative action, illegal immigration, political correctness, multi-cultural education, and all the rest. Your example of courage now is inspiring and encouraging. I forgive you for the past; and I will do my part now to stand with you. Thank you for standing up for our country.

Nancy Pelosi was on This Week with George Stephanopoulos last Sunday. She was practically incoherent, and I loved it.
