Spreading Your Wealth AroundPosted by GOP Leader Press Office on October 22nd, 2008
Below you will find “Spreading Your Wealth Around,” a brief report produced by House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) with the help of House GOP committee ranking members and staff. The document offers a representative sample (by no means an exhaustive list) of real bills and resolutions proposed by Democrats during the 110th Congress to take wealth from middle-class working Americans and redistribute it through big government programs.

In the last decade we’ve traded tax and spend for borrow and spend. Next up: tax and spread.

I am deeply disturbed by your “chicken” comment in reference to Obama. I would hope a senator would be more professional and use more diplomacy when making comments about another senator’s voting record. Our nation is divided enough and these types of comments just show how low in the dirt we are willing to fight against another American so our political party looks better.

I’m very concerned that our current congressional members have not been more effective in promoting the principles of the GOP. I’m disgusted with the poor election results on a state basis and wonder just who are our congressional members serving? I’m taking a good look at who is fighting for smaller government and who is taking a firm stand on immigration and security. Now that we have the worst possible scenario of a far “left” leaning administration we MUST have advocates for a solid all encompassing energy plan. Where are the real GOP advocates?

Has anyone realized our country’s problems begin with our government? They set the bar on spending with unlimited regulations. They allowed Freddy/Fannie to extend credit to unworthy consumers. They fail to regulate Citicorp/Citigroup with their extensive marketing of credit cards to everyone in America, even minors. I don’t understand the speculation allowed in business. It is not ethical to give someone a credit card who cannot manage to work, much less a home loan. The government is in the same position. How can they even talk of “bail_outs” with money they don’t have? They are the biggest extenders of credit – with NO LIQUIDITY TO BACK THEM UP. What if the taxpayers decide to revolt and stop paying taxes? What then? And what about the IRS going after numerous small offenders in America, but they turn around and bail out the largest offenders with our tax dollars? It should be absolutely mandatory that our U.S. government balance their accounts each year. This carry over of massive and increasing debt will eventually destroy our country. So, I ask with all my heart, how can we bail out anyone with NO money? Citicorp has already received bail out money, and they were one of the worst speculators in the credit card market. Please, do something. Organize some capable leaders and fight this bail out. The American public is so very sick and tired of excessive spending.
