President Barack Obama and the Website of “NO”Posted by Nick Schaper on March 18th, 2009
Yesterday in his statement on the budget, President Obama once again called for bipartisan solutions to the problems our economy faces, saying:
Responding to President’s call, yesterday Leader Boehner outlined the principles of the Republican budget in brief video: With both the President’s and the Leader’s statements now featured on YouTube, what better way to offer the American people an opportunity to compare and contrast the two visions for the country than seeing them side by side? Unfortunately, when we attempted to post the Leader’s statement as a response on the White House YouTube channel, we received this message:
The promise of social media lies in its ability to connect people and start a conversation. While the Obama administration has received much praise for its use of the web, it’s becoming clear that they intend to have a very one-sided conversation: no YouTube responses, no comments on the White House “blog”, and no Twitter. Let us know what you think of the White House’s web-policy of “No” in the comments below, by replying to @GOPLeader on Twitter, or in a video response on our YouTube channel. Thank You…. Keep the fight up.
We (the people) will support you!
We need more members of congress like you!

It is just another clear sign of how untruthful the Obama team is. They are all talk. I want to know why the GOP is not all over the news. If you have to why don’t you go on Jay Leno as well. Fight fire with fire. Something has got to be done to stop this attack on our country from within Washington.

President Obama, don’t be so afraid of open debate. Allow comments from all Americans to be apart of the discussion.

I think it’s pretty ridiculous that you’re complaining over that when your own MINORITY party Whip Eric Cantor censors posts on his blog and removes twitter posts from his #cantor hashtag aggregator at his official whip site. A bit hypocritical, don’t you think?

Actually there is a contact page on whitehouse.gov to share your ideas or just to say hi sorry but you got that wrong.and I think its silly to critize them for not twittering. Why has politics turned to high school behavior? Look they have whithouse.gov, had change.gov, recovery.gov and Obama has OFA so I think they communicate plenty and give plenty of oppertunites for the public as well.stop being childish that would help.

[…] his credit Boehner is actually allowing comments on the post whining about Obama. Apparently he understands how hypocritical THAT would be. Last time I checked, Cantor even […]

Crystal: if Obama is so connected to the Internet and there are numerous avenues to get in touch with the administration via the Internet, then doesn’t it beg the question why they won’t let responses be posted on the youtube page? I don’t think it’s childish, I think they are pointing out an interesting discrepancy. Furthermore, if you want to say “hi” to the president, fine…I did it when I was five by writing him letters, but discussing governance and saying what’s up are two different things. What if I wanted to post a response? He is censoring people and detracting from a democratic approach. I find it insulting that he is talking about bi-partisanship, but won’t allow for anyone to debate him. There is nothing childish about demanding the power to respond to your president about the future of your country.

If the President’s ideas are not strong enough to withstand debate, why should we spend trillions of dollars following his ‘vision?’
If you want non-partisan suggestions, you have to be willing to listen to, and actually hear the ideas of ALL citizens, not just the citizens who say what you want to hear.
And to those who complain we are being ‘childish’ we are just exposing an opportunity for the President to receive more ’suggestions for change,’ that he has apparently not tapped into. If he is so right, how does it hurt him to just listen to dissenting opinions?

Thank you Sir for pointing this out. It is really not surprising to me. They are us showing their true selves yet again.

Its not just this website, every major news organization is turning off the comment section on anything to do with Obama. Only in Communist China or Russia are you not allowed to criticize your leader. Unless of course, Obama thinks he is the US equivelent of Ataturk.

In the nation of Turkey, it is a crime to criticize the founder of Modern Turkey and the leader of the Turkish Independence - Mustafa Kemal Ataturk; is the same now true for Barrack Hussein Obama?

Obama believes his press (”the chosen one”).He is a pathetic joke and a disgrace to our country. His treatment of the PM from the UK was despicable. And sending back the bust of Churchill–oh my gawd! Yep, we are seeing change!!!

Obama’s refusal to allow comments, responses, debate, etc., is just another indicator of the hypocrisy this man practices - open and transparent government, indeed.
