“Here it is, Mr. President.”Posted by GOP Leader Press Office on March 26th, 2009
House Republican Leader John Boehner Challenges President Obama’s Assertion That GOP Has Not Offered a Better Solution. Republican leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives today unveiled “The Republican Road to Recovery,” a document that outlines Republican solutions on the budget and other major issues facing the American people. The GOP Road to Recovery plan was unveiled this morning on Capitol Hill just hours after Democrats rammed President Obama’s bloated FY 2010 budget through the House Budget Committee, building on the six budget principles that were outlined for President Obama last week by House Republican leaders. For further information, go to http://gopleader.gov. Full text of the “Republican Road to Prosperity” document. Mr. Boehner, yesterday I spend a few hours posting questions to Mr. Obama’s “ask the President” site. Afterwards I spent some time view and voting on questions from others and I found that there were an overwhelming number of people who were asking the president about the Fair Tax act, or some flat tax variant. The concessions were that the people want the government to be more creative when it comes to tax reform. Also people are very upset over bail outs. The bail out money would have been better served by returning it to the hard working people of this country so that they have the money to spend , driving the economy and thus saving “good” businesses who do not take advantage of the current systems in place. Now, today I spent some time waiting to see if the Fair tax idea would be addressed by Mr. Obama… and at with no surprise there was no mention. What is everyone afraid of when it comes to real fair tax reform? Why is there no real fight for the well being of the American people? Why does most of congress turn a blind eye to real reform and progress? Our government is doomed if our leaders can not regain the trust of its people. I would like to see all members of the Republican join together to really represent the people. To step out of the comfort zone, and on a National level publicly challenge the rest of congress to debate real tax reform in plan view… Let the people hear the real arguments for and against the Fair Tax act… And then let the people decide, Respectfully Andrew Klinger

To quote and old ’80s comercial, “Where is the beef?” This is a pamphlet, a brochure, you are just saying no with comments. I am a 52 y/o white middle class independent professionalwho has voted equally over the past 34 years for a good men in both parties. I am seeing nothing from the remnants of the republican party showing a way out of our national problems. The image of rich white guys looking out for rich white guys really seems to fit. The reality of trickle down economics has hit the fan and this past year and the vast majority of Americans have told you they are tired of the crumbs left by the filthy rich.

Dear Mr. Boehner,
I’d like to thank you for your relentless hard work. Keep up the fight! The American spirit is awakening and we will take back our country with the help of leaders like you. Thank you!

You should be addressing the budget as a Wal-mart budget, instead of Macy’s. Encourage low cost of goverment instead of a high list price with lots of discounts and free-bee’s to friends.

Mr. Boehner,
I, too, would like to thank you for your hard work, courage and fighting for our rights as Americans. You have the support of many Republicans in Maryland. Never give up. You are fighting for our liberties just as the country’s founders did centuries ago. I will be at the Tax Day Tea Party in Annapolis on April 15th.
Thank you, sir,

I also would like to hear more about The Fair Tax from Washington. If the GOP is serious about limited government and tax reform The Fair Tax is the perfect vehicle for it. Not only will The Fair Tax return power to the American people it will fix the economy and bring old Businesses back and attract new ones.
Of course we know that “independents” like Jeff won’t like it because it doesn’t punish anyone. How sad to think that there are people in this country who won’t be happy until someone else is made to suffer.
Keep up the good work GOP, you’re on the right track.

Mr. Boehner,
Please follow Rep. King’s drive for a Fair Tax. You in this Congress can go down in history alongside the Founding Fathers as leaders who changed America. The Fair Tax helps the poor, taxes the wealthy’s main assets, ends April 15th as a bad day in America, and gives us a competitive advantage in the world market place.
Kindly,

To the commenter “Jeff”..
What you are is a Racist, who hates his own “whiteness” & is part of the culture of self inflicted Liberal Guilt.. You are about as independent as the idiot you voted for.. You’re not fooling anyone. The “filthy rich” as you put it are the ones who create jobs in this country. Perhaps if you spent less time whining & more time working, you might be able to provide a large number of jobs as well. I am not “rich” but I work hard, & I don’t need the Government to take care of me. I need them to stay out of my way. So grow up, & learn to depend on yourself instead of blaming everyone else for yours or anyone else’s problems. The Capitalist system in this country is the only reason ignoramuses like you have a computer to type on, & it’s under threat from a sock puppet President now, because people like you voted for him & his Fascist party. Take a look at the UK if you want to see how Obama’s ideas will work. They are out of money.. Broke..

Keep it up–hammer and hammer and hammer away. Not only are there chinks in the armor, there is no armor… Conservatism can defend itself,–your job is to go declare it. Statist liberalism shall not stand in this country–it is antithetical to our constitution, to our declaration of independence and to our history.
Go do good things—for we are ahead of you….get ahead of us and see Daniel Hannan from the EU yesterday. Go do that

I think I finally understand the economic policies of the current administration and Democratic Congress. It’s like this. Imagine you’re a newly married couple and you have no children… you haven’t even conceived yet. But you need to stimulate the economy of your household… so you take out a Med School loan in the name of your still-to-be-conceived child. To your complete surprise… the treasury has no problem giving you whatever amount you need. Now you have a ton of money, which you invest in the household infrastructure (home renovation, every conceivable entertainment and communication device, vacations to keep household morale at a high level, cars, pools, boats, health insurance etc. – you know, the kind of lifestyle and security that parents of an M.D. are entitled to have!). Now paying back the loan will depend on you finally conceiving in the first place, actually raising a child, having the child demonstrate a desire and ability to enter and complete Medical School, and agree to work for the rest of his or her life to pay off the money you “invested”, so that your future M.D. child could have a suitable environment for growth and development. Don’t forget that YOU won’t be paying off the loan, since you took out the loan on behalf of your imaginary child. You’re not going to have to pay a red cent…so live it up!
(Another way of looking at it is that this generation of Washington leadership has succeeded in blowing its inheritance, spending away its own earnings and is now squandering away the earnings of the next few generations. Or as my South African friend once said in jest: Posterity? Why should I care about posterity… what has posterity ever done for me?)

Jeffrey, KISS. Its not a pamphlet. The truth is not that complex and one does not have to sneak it in under the cover of darkness in encyclopedia form and fine print. It could of been one page. “Government get the hell out of my business and let us make money and jobs.”

Quoted from “Andrew’s post above”
The bail out money would have been better served by returning it to the hard working people of this country
Andrew, do you really believe Congress had 787 billion dollars lying around waiting to be spent? That money is tax money the government has yet to collect. It was financed by the Chinese and the Saudis buying our debt. It was never ‘there’ to be ‘returned’ to anyone.
It flat out should not have been spent in the first place.
The Congressional Budget Office, a non-partisan group responsible for figuring out how much legislation will cost the American people, has declared that Obama’s budget will lead to ‘unsustainable’ debt yet the Democrats and Obama are hell bent on going ahead with it.
ANY alternative would be better.

So now the “life long Republicans” trashing trickle down are now “independents” named Jeff.
I don’t want green energy that no business would produce in w/out a huge government hand out, I want nuclear energy that is implemented right. I don’t want free healthcare, I’d rather have health care that is worth paying for. I don’t want my government consuming money my unborn grandchildren won’t have.
I’m 37, 100k+/year income, in a paid for house, with a good chunk of savings - and rather than re-invest in my side business or kill myself at my day job as a project management consultant, I’m going to go on vacation for the next 2-5 years because I refuse to pay for socialism. I will drop to $35k a year/income because I’d rather work on my tan than kill myself at work 70/hrs a week to give it all to the government. I hear the only good part about socialism is the long long extended vacations. Sorry to stiff the rest of you with the Obama’s tab- it’s just that eating a crap sandwich doesn’t agree with me.
Tell the department of class warfare that rich white guys can go on long extended vacations and NOT pay taxes. Rich-white-guy cash will do just fine under the mattress. we’ll wait out King Borat, the pop star in chief.
Keep up the good fight GOP and just so you know, I agree with Rush, I hope this president does fail.
PS- the Bush years were GREAT to me. I don’t know what everyone else’s excuse is for being neck deep in debt.
March 26th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Here’s my budget. Fair Tax. Fund the military. Regulate intra-State commerce. What else does the federal government have the Constitutional authority to do?
March 26th, 2009 at 3:44 pm
I am glad to see an alternative and any discussion of the fair tax is music to my ears. What gets my blood boiling is a brood of ”better than you” thieves who have convinced themselves that they can spend our money, and now our time, better than we can.
March 26th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
Mr. Boehner,
Thank you very much for your efforts! I am grateful SOMEONE is out there doing something to save our country.
I am gravely concerned about President Obama’s budget, as well as his plan to indoctrinate our youth under the guise of mandated volunteerism. I plan to refuse to participate in such a scheme, and thus, am willing to go to jail, if I must, in order to save my children.
What the heck is going on in Washington? The Democrats are seeking to subvert The Constitution and effectively enslave Americans. Can this really be happening?
Please rally the Republicans and fight the Democrats. Do not cooperate in the “spirit of bipartisanship.” The Democrats never act in a bipartisan manner.
Thank you, sir.
Respectfully,
Roger Alan Cotton, Jr.

Thank you, Mr. Boehner, for keeping up the good fight against the onslaught of the Democrats as they work to concentrate greater and greater power in the central government. This is a destination of disastrous totalitarianism. Each step along the way destroys more liberty.
As for “Jeff”, i don’t think we need the invective against him. He is simply uninformed and ignorant, as was the majority of people who voted for the guy who had visited “57 States with a couple more to go”!
He also doesn’t know that the wealthiest members of the Senate are… Democrats!!! Most in the House, too.
George Washington said that the Protector of the Constitution is the People. It’s in danger, now. We need to work hard to defend it.
Here’s hoping and praying that all those of good will in Congress (Dem and Repub) who cherish the Constitution will also keep up the good fight.

I have a much simpler and workable plan. I have submitted it to various questionaires in varing forms but is basically a 3 point solution. But this will be ignored I’m sure as were all the others.
1. Enact the Fair Tax. I watched the Special Order the other day as it was presented on the House floor and you could see the seats behind the speaker were empty. This has been researched by the top economist in the country. The same question and objections come up and they are answered and rebutted. Then it is “politely” dropped.
2. Enact term limits.
3. Put a cap on campaign spending.
The first will get rid of lobbyist and special interest groups in Washington as well as the hated IRS.
The second will end career politicians.
The third will level the playing field for all who wish to truly serve the country in the public forum.
March 26th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
Thanks for finally putting together a coherent stand. The argument I’m constantly hearing besides brain-dead zombies chanting “hope” and “change” is, you think you can do better? Of course we can do better and this is a good start. At least the House is getting it.
Appreciate your work,
Paul in TN
March 26th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
Thank you for all that you are doing. Keep up the good fight. There are many of us good Americans out here who feel helpless and are just hoping and PRAYING that there are still good politicians and pundits out there who will get it through the Administration’s thick skull that we are DISGUSTED. I am a young stay at home mother of a middle class family and I don’t want any money from the people who earned it- my husband and I work hard to make our own way. I also know that my family is viewed as rich by some because of good decisions we’ve made in schooling and how we handle our debt and mortgage. We don’t ask for bailouts because we don’t need bailouts because we’ve worked hard to be this way and that used to be the American Dream that made us so successful. I know we are going to be paying the dear dear price for what Obama is doing now and I am sickened EVERY day by it. Keep fighting for those of us who cannot get our own word out any other way!

Fair Tax, Fair Tax, FAIR TAX!!! If the Republicans are serious about fixing our budget this is THE ONLY WAY TO DO IT!! I also want to add that I’m glad to see Rebpublican leaders, well, LEAD!!! Thank you John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Mike Pence, Thaddeus McCotter, Cathy McMorrris Rodgers, John Carter, Pete Sessions, Kevin McCarthy, David Dreier and Roy Blunt. I would LOVE to see these names on a Fair Tax proposal in the very near future!!! The Fair Tax plan already has over $20 million in research behind it so there is no need for further research, and it would draw independents who overwhelmingly support it. ENACT THE FAIR TAX!!
March 26th, 2009 at 4:06 pm
These are some good principles, but I hope you’ll forgive my skepticism; we’ve heard it before. For some reason principles are among the first casualties of the genteel circus that is the federal government. But I suppose it’s better to begin principles and end without them than to begin with none and pretend to develop them along the way. The party has a long way to go to regain my trust, but don’t give up; the Democrats only had it for a brief time when I was very young and they were still pro-American.
March 26th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
Jeff, I too am a 52 yo white male, recently jobless tahnks to your hero but UNLIKE you I don’t condone class warfare, “spread the wealth” and the rest of the left’s mendacious propaganda. I suggest you do some research and you’ll find that a good part of Wallstreet made huge donations to MAObama, one in particular was Bernie M. the Ponzi King. Like Dan I also don’t want the govt taking care of me, I just want them out of my way and to be left alone to live my life as I see fit. This Presidents plans are nothing less than turning of our free enterprise system into a socialist one. I just hope theres enough Republicans with a pair and the courage to get tough despite the attacks they’ll get from our “unbiased” media. Americans can make their voices heard by joining one of the Tea Party protests planned around the country April 15th. Resist or Submit, It’s up to you.

Excellent to see a very nice looking response. The themes are few and clear. The comparisons to what the Democrats have done is much needed. I have not fully digested it yet but overall looks like it strikes the appropriate balance of clarity and brevity. Did not completely agree with the treatment of “entitlements”; liked the tax rate simplification approach.
Keep up the good fight.

March 26th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
ummm…doesn’t a budget have, like, you know, numbers and stuff?
March 26th, 2009 at 5:24 pm
Rep. Boehner, I know you are trying to stop a lot of this madness, but I wish the Republicans would really stick together and have a louder voice. I believe there needs to be a more passionate appeal to the American people about what this administration is trying to do to this country. People need to hear about how Nationlized Health Care is administered in other countries. I know they will not like it. They need to hear how Cap and Trade would increase their utility bills significantly. They need to understand that most of the people on Wall Street are Democrats not mainly Republicans as some would have you think. They also need to understand that they are not really interested in having this economy recover. The longer people are preoccupied with their economic situation they will not pay as much attention to the other plans this administration is pushing for. Look at this GIVE ACT just passed in the House. National Civilian Security Force? Remind you of another era? Please to not give up we are with you.
March 26th, 2009 at 5:32 pm
The flat tax idea is the way to go, although it will never happen until we vote some of these Democrats out of office. The theme of our new tea party should be, No Representation Without Taxation”. Every person should have a vested interest in this country. Other wise they will always vote to raise your taxes.
March 26th, 2009 at 5:54 pm
Why is it that “trickle down economics” is always used as some kind of bad thing when it comes to the “trickle” starting with the top of the Private sector but when that same “trickle” starts with the Government, then its the most beautiful, fair, thing in the world?
March 26th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
Amen Mr. Boehner, I beg you to make it so!
March 26th, 2009 at 6:55 pm
I don’t see any budget in here, looks like a position paper or something. But no numbers. Is there another link or something?
March 26th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
Thank you Republicans for stepping up and proposing an alternative to the massive spending the Democrats are shoving at us. So people don’t like tax cuts and logical economics where business generates jobs and growth to the economy?? Has anyone ever heard of a country where “trickle up economics” works/worked?? Keep up the fight, speak out Republicans, every minute of every day!! LESS GOVERNMENT PLEASE!!!

RE: Commenter 2. - Paine’s “Common Sense” was a pamphlet…just saying…
March 26th, 2009 at 7:10 pm
Dave (above) is on target with his list of 3 tools necessary to fix our dysfunctional government; (1) FAIR TAX; (2) TERM LIMITS; (3) CAP CAMPAIGN SPENDING.
There is nothing new or unrealistic in these simple (though not easy) steps. The only thing needed is the Republican Party (or another party that recognizes how crucial the need is) to have the courage to sell these ideas loud and clear and NOW.
March 26th, 2009 at 7:10 pm
Everyone is missing the POINT. The Liberals WANT the economy to crash.
March 26th, 2009 at 7:25 pm
Mr. Leader, as a proud conservative and loyal Republican, but I was embarrassed to call myself one after the stunt you and other House “Republicans” pulled today. What were you thinking? You all need some serious help. We have a chance to take back Congress and steer this country in the right direction, but you continue to miss the big picture. I’m not sure if you’re making bad decisions or have bad staff. If it’s a staff issue then fire them all and I’ll come and work for you. However, if it was your doing then you have to see the light. We can not, repeat, can not afford these type of mistakes (not providing details to a plan as an alternative to the President)at this time. How can we criticize the President and his administration for not providing details and then we do the same thing. We need to be better than this and for the future of our party we must.
Thanks.
March 26th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
Listen guys, this is not a budget, this is a declaration of intentions, with some nice pictures. Are you going to hire more accountants and less graphic designers?
March 26th, 2009 at 8:08 pm
We need Daniel Hannan who is a member of the British Parliament in the United State Congress or House of Representatives. I just saw a speech from this man on Hannity, and I have never heard such passion from our leaders here in the US. Where is the passion from our representatives?!?!?!?! I like the Fair Tax idea. Why is it not being seriously considered?
March 26th, 2009 at 8:41 pm
Mr. Boehner,
After learning that the our party had come up with a novel numberless budget, I personally challenge anyone in America to say that the GOP has no NEW ideas.
March 26th, 2009 at 8:41 pm
“Andrew, do you really believe Congress had 787 billion dollars lying around waiting to be spent? That money is tax money the government has yet to collect. ”
That is EXACTLY what most Americans do not understand -THE MONEY IS NOT THERE TO BEGIN WITH SO WHAT THE HELL ARE WE DOING TRYING TO SPEND SOMETHING THAT DOESN’T EVEN EXIST?
March 26th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
Briefly perused all of this and glad that something was presented to Obama. I’ll read it over the weekend when I can better digest it.
In the meantime, I am very concerned about this Obama. He, in my opinion is very out of line in what he is doing. I am offended by his utter lack of humility. He is very sarcastic and takes to humiliating anyone who disagrees with him. I do not think that makes for a good leader. Some examples are him shooting down the reporter on Tuesday night with that quip about him wanting to know what he’s talking about. I just read something about how he appeared to shoot down a teacher from Philadelphia. He is so on the b.s. with his “caring for the people.”
He is utilizing all media venues to push his agenda or the agenda of whomever he is paid off by. He tries to sway the public with anecdotes from his own life to show he cares but is that the mark of a good leader? Who wants to hear about how our leader argued with the insurance company over his mother’s bill? That’s coffee talk and irrelevant but he is using it to cajole people into his madness.
As for the budget, I think there are easy answers. What I really don’t understand behind Obama’s thoughts is why is he focusing on health, education, and energy so much right now? It would seem to me right now we need to address the economy. Cut taxes, give businesses tax breaks, and focus on the bank problems. He does not appear to be addressing the problems at hand but adding to the problems. First fix the economy, then go and do all the other reforms. Also, it appears to me that the best things take time. You shouldn’t rush into changes so suddenly. He came into office changing things willy-nilly and by doing so I think he has jeopardized the national security of this nation.
I have contacted my local Republican party to get involved. I think right now it is too dangerous to be complacent. I also wish the Republicans would be more dynamic and represent a party comprised of legitimate, credible statesmen (and women) who believe in this nation on the principles upon which it was founded. I encourage people to get involved and let’s start making this happen.
March 26th, 2009 at 9:39 pm
Consevatives stand for real answers not just lip service. Unless you state the ways you want to make these changes ,we’re no better than the current leaders not stating the details. GOOD start but no substance, we need to stand apart from the current “empty mouthers”.
March 26th, 2009 at 10:10 pm
Jeff,
When you mention rich old white men protecting other rich white men, are you referring to Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Rahm Emanuel, Tim Geitner, Tom Daschle, Ted Kennedy, Joe Biden, and good ole Soros? Are these the self serving rich white guys to which you refer?
March 26th, 2009 at 10:35 pm
Thank You for all you do. You are the voice in the Republican party that is most loud right now. Keep up the work and do not let them get you down. All of us that did not vote for the current President are behind you. God Bless and yes your in our prayers!
Man you women and kids !! We are taking them down.
March 26th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
Mr. Leader,
Please take your plan far and wide. Today in the news there was a segment that says GOP is not offering an alternative just criticism. Please let the country know that there is a better answer than to put the next 2 generations in massive debt.
Thank you!
March 27th, 2009 at 12:02 am
It’s a good start, and I’m appalled at the negativism of some of the above comments. Yes, your plan needs to be fleshed out with concrete figures, but I wonder how many of the nay-sayers will take the time to study the final plan when it’s presented. None of us can afford what’s being shoved down our throats by the current administration and full-speed-ahead Congress. I am afraid for those who will inherit a growing debt we cannot possibly repay in our lifetimes, and for the erosion of capitalism. You have my gratitude for standing up for sound principles, and my fervent wish that you can slow the juggernaut that is our current government.
March 27th, 2009 at 12:50 am
Well rowdytexan and Seth, specifically, in the plan, as to the spending, the specifics, in general, are to reduce it and, also, to make it less. And numbers, if they were to be put, in fact, in the plan, and included, would be attacked by the elites who, in the media, are present also.
March 27th, 2009 at 3:19 am
Like this ever had a chance, with Reid kneecapping Constitutional government at every turn.
Interesting how many people like Jeff came here directly from The Huffington Post and have left port 80 open on their machines.

[…] The GOP does have a better solution. […]
March 27th, 2009 at 8:33 am
I wish people would read this “budget” before attempting to congratulate them. As the CFO of a small corporation, this is an utter embarrassment.
March 27th, 2009 at 9:18 am
Hello people! Budgets have numbers, no vague campaign style slogans… The fact that so many of the post on here are praising this so called “budget” makes me embarrassed.
March 27th, 2009 at 11:29 am
Thank you for your hard work and perseverance, Mr. Boehner. You give us all hope - real hope that we can believe in
March 27th, 2009 at 12:50 pm
I propose to eliminate corporate taxes and income taxes both. Instead, we should impose a net-worth tax. The super wealthy don’t pay income taxes because their billions and billions aren’t from “income.” income is what the middle class makes. That’s why we see so many multibillionaires like Steve Jobs, Warren Buffett, George Soros, Mike Bloomberg and Bill Gates who are all in favor of socialist policies. They also are in favor of the death tax, since they have all sorts of “foundations” set up to avoid paying them. Taxes are for the little people. Like all laws.
A flat net-worth tax would truly be more fair than even a flat income tax. And it would be a very small percentage, too, so there would be no deductions to itemize, and no withholding.

I congratulate you on calling the Obama bluff regarding his so-called budget. A budget in my lexicon is a plan for how you will use the resources you have saved and those you expect to earn to accomplish your piority goals over a defined time period. Endless borrowing is not a budget, it is a formula for going out of business - the only question is how long your actual and potential creditors decide to pull the plug and let you die.
What I don’t see in the Republican plan and your presentation of it is passion and leadership. Obama and his minions understand that they are in a battle for the soul of this nation. Do you? If so, it is time to act like it. Pretend you are talking about the well being of your grandchildren - because you are. They are being attacked. You are their only defenders. Show us how much you care about their future.

Mr. Boehner,
I’m proud to be from your Great State of Ohio. Please keep up the Conservative fight against the Tax and Spend Democrats, they are really getting out of control. I don’t know how the Minority manages with the day to day shinannigans of the Democrats.
You’re doing great and so many people are behind you. I really do miss the Bush refund checks, (sigh) a thing of the past, unfortunately.

To all of you people who are saying that budgets have numbers, that is obvious. The writing above states that the “Republican Road to Recovery” is a DOCUMENT that OUTLINES the Republicans solutions on the budget and other major issues facing the American people. So my understanding is that this is not the budget but kind of like a summary of what the principle are behind the budget. However, I think the real point is, that Obama claimed on Tuesday night that no one has offered an alternative budget. I suspect that is an outright lie. So I think this is in response to Obama’s comment on Tuesday night.
As for the budget, it would seem to me, more spending is just going to cause more problems and printing more money is going to cause inflation. Thinking on small terms, when I don’t have money I don’t spend. If I were to max out my credit cards with insufficient funds to pay off I would go bankrupt. Why can’t the government cut back where necessary until we are able to move forward then start making radical reforms where necessary in terms of education, healthcare and energy. Also, cut back on welfare because all that does is marginalize people and create an unhealthy dependency on the government that I think burdens everyone in many different ways.
Also, off topic, but in regards to the current economic situation. Isn’t part of the problem we are experiencing right now due to the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act under Clinton? I believe the Secretary of the Treasury at the time, Robert Rubin, helped to orchestrate that. After leaving his position as treasurer he took a position at Citigroup. Also, I read that Rubin was a key economic advisor to Obama during his campaign. This is just what I read someplace. Now what I am wondering, if this is true what are the implications? Rather than people getting upset with AIG, Wall Street, executives making millions of dollars off taxpayers, shouldn’t we be looking to the very source of this problem which seems to lie in DC. What about reinstating the Glass-Steagall act? What about looking at those people who were involved in the legislation that caused this economic problem and putting them on trial? They are the ones who have done the taxpayers wrong are they not? I realize that is probably unrealistic but I think common sense needs to prevail. Right now the there is too much emotion flying around this nation and it is going to undermine us.

I ,believe that some folks would really bet against there best interest, than to see the country suceed because white supremacy, as we no it ,is now being challanged. How can you work for pennies everyday make only enough money to cover some of your expenses week in and week out and the go back to the same old routine. You have poeple, who have eight house and your dumb enough to really belive they care about you. Being ignorant is one thing, but to be racist and ignorant is scary.

Senate and House Republicans and conservative Democrats should unite on this matter and stop the spending madness. A TRILLION dollar deficit is completely unacceptable to most Americans. Use polls, bring witnesses into congressional hearings, subpoena citizens to testify that they find a TRILLION dollar defict ($3,300 of new dept on each man, woman and child) is unacceptable.
ANY budget that size must simply be rejected.

Republicans, Democrats & Independents,
There is a good reason to strongly back this bill, especially since the alternative is Obama’s attempt to push our country into socialism:
so⋅cial⋅ism
1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
2. the stage (in Marxist theory)following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.
Frightening, but this definition sounds a lot like Obama’s redistribution policies.
As a Republican I’m willing to meet Democrats halfway, but will not move even 1″ to compromise with a law breaking (sounds harsh unless you think of the mockery he has recently made of contract law) Socialist who has no respect for our Constitution.

Well done John.
Stand strong, we got your back.
If you guys get the taxes fixed, either fair tax or flat tax you will have a bunch of supporters across the US.
I am a registered republican, but a conservative above all. I no longer care about parties, they mean nothing.
We have to take our country back.

President Obama is a very smart man.
He has the intelligence and political skill to drastically improve this country on both the domestic and foreign fronts. It a civic duty for all of us, no matter our political stripes, to welcome and support our new president and to give him a chance….

I hope they really open ways to future development. New members should bring new ideas in. But make sure the selection process is strict enough.
