Boehner: “Enough is Enough” – It’s Time to Defund ACORN NowPosted by Kevin Boland on September 15th, 2009
House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today announced he will introduce legislation – the Defund ACORN Act – to sever all ties between the federal government and ACORN. House Republicans are also sending a letter to President Obama asking him to take action to publicly disclose and terminate all taxpayer funding of ACORN. House Republican leaders, led by Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA), also sent a separate letter to the IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman, urging him to end any referrals by the IRS to ACORN offices for tax preparation consultation. Leader Boehner also released the following video calling for an immediate end to all taxpayer funding of ACORN: Leader Boehner stated today:
Boehner also praised the efforts of Reps. Darrell Issa (R-CA), Patrick McHenry (R-NC), and Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) for the roles they played in forcing the U.S. Census Bureau to sever its ties with ACORN. Enough is enough. The American people are tired of seeing their tax dollars wasted on an organization accused of serious crimes - and that’s why House Republicans are stepping up efforts to defund ACORN once and for all. Dear Honorable House Leader Boehner,
I just wanted to tell you that I and the American public applaud you and the other representatives 100% in this effort. It is about time that this was done. The follow up to shutting off the money supply, tracking down the criminals via the IRS and through investigations, and disclosure, must result in prosecution of the persons responsible for this outrage(no matter who they are).
There may be hope for this country yet, in spite of President Obama’s apparent close ties to this group.
thank you

Enough is enough, I stand 100% behind you on this issue. Also, this should be turned over to the Attorney General for a total review. Acorn has received millions of our money which has been used in criminal activity.
September 15th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
It’s about time you stood up and fought back.
September 15th, 2009 at 4:37 pm
Thank God its finally happened. And none too soon. This despicable organization is an afront to the American people. Voter fraud and now this disgusting attempt to fund such activities as prostitution and underage prostitution to boot. Good Job!!!! Mr. Boehner.

It’s about time. We need to keep the pressure on.

Our country cannot survive on corruption, greed and no regard for
humanity. Acorn is exposed……..they are working against our country at our expense. Urgent investigation into this expensive habit- the one we have bought with hard-earned taxpayer money.
September 15th, 2009 at 5:14 pm
I AM WITH YOU 1000 0/0. I AM ENCOURAGING ALL I KNOW TO WRITE THE PRESIDENT AND CONGRESS AND THE SENATE, IMPLORING THEM TO STOP FUNDING OF ACORN. IT IS A BLEMISH ON OUR SOCIETY AND AN EMBARASSMENT TO OUR COUNTRY!!!
September 15th, 2009 at 5:25 pm
I agree. Please do everything you can to stop funding ACORN - it is past time to do this. Please keep me informed of any progress in that effort.
September 15th, 2009 at 5:27 pm
Representative Boehner,
I am in full agreement that ACORN should lose all funding based upon the revelations that have come to light, and it needs to start at the bottom and go to the top, even if up to the President if necessary. I also am disappointed in the sanctions on Joe Wilson, and would like to have Charlie Rangel prosecuted to the fullest extent. The corruption is getting way to high, and it needs to be taken care of on both sides. Americans are tired of the corruption, and it needs to be dealt with immediately. The Tea Party’s have been just a start, and we will continue to push to clean things up.
Thanks for listening to me vent.
September 15th, 2009 at 5:36 pm
Thank you for being the ethical gentleman Republican that you are!!!!!

Dear Leader Boehner, I just want to say Thank You For taking a stand against “Acorn”. I never knew there was so much corruption in DC. All of my voting life i have been a reg. democrat-untill last year. I never will be “that” again. I think of all of the homes that have been taken by the IRS because of back taxes that people “owed”,and then i see the THEFT OF OUR TAX DOLLARS by acorn and i am po’d! To think i paid 28% of my wages in TAX DOLLARS only to find this out about acorn! Where is the honesty in our Government? To think my taxes went for these people sickens me! Sincerely, DJMohler

I agree…enough is enough concerning the funding to ACORN. We, the tax payers, have seen enough of this type of waste of our money. The organization is corrupt and should be cut off from our hard earned money. The ACORN organization needs to find other meaningful ways to help the truly needy in a more productive way. They could start off by training people to be responsible hard working citizens. I’m retired from 30 years of teaching and I feel that I deserve a break for all of my years of hard working to make this a better country for the young people. I don’t believe in hand-outs for illegal immigrants and lazy people. It’s enough!
September 15th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
Mr. Boehner, Yes it is time to get rid of this corrupt group of Marxists. And it is time for you republicans to quit thinking you can reach across the isle and start fighting. This is a war,Obama and these liberals are trying to destroy this Country. So quit trying to get along with these people and get mad as hell and start fighting them.

I had contacted Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) and Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand concerning the corrupt, disgraceful actions of ACORN and its Federal Funding (our tax dollars).
I contacted them prior to the Senate vote. I am disgusted by Gillibrand’s vote and her ridiculous rationale. I have started an email campaign in NYS to prevent Gillibrand from returning to the Senate when the elcetion takes place. We will NOT forget.
September 15th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
My husband and I agree 100% with you. How can this organization be federally funded with the corruption that’s taking place???
September 15th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
Thank you, sir. You are doing what needs to be done. We are hungry for this sort of action. Please keep it up.
September 15th, 2009 at 7:21 pm
Thank you, Mr Boehner, for all you are doing and trying to do to stem the severe leftward direction the President and Congress are driving us in.
I must tell you that most people out here do not know what Republicans have been struggling to do on our behalf, your attempts to hold true to the Constitution. You’ve got to get your message out. I forward your newsletters to everyone on my contact list. I understand that you are up against what i call Big Media, which acts as a censoring agency instead of a news agency. You need to find a way of getting your efforts more exposure. More and more people are turning to FOX, to get all sides of the issues.
Lastly, i have called my two Democrat congressmen (and also Senator Gregg). I have asked, since the “Stimulus (spending) Bill”, and have continued asking them to defund ACORN, to get the billions allocated to ACORN in that bill–and every bill– OUT. I have called on all the spending bills, and i have told them that everyone i talk with, people who do not normally “open up”, are worried and angry.
On the health care “reforms”: please shred HR3200, not our health care system! On Labor Day there was a story in the news about a crack in the Golden Gate Bridge, needing urgent repair. They did not tear down the entire bridge to repair it!
Thanks for supporting Rep. Wilson; he apologised.
Thanks again. You all are in my prayers.

We could help to reduce our government debt or better yet fund Health care if needed with funding given to ACORN. Please stop the coruption and stop funding to ACORN!!
September 15th, 2009 at 7:31 pm
All funding to this organization of every kind should be terminated as they are wrought with fraud in every sense. We further need to investigate the say FBI for federal crimes in voting and misappropriation of government funds in many areas. Our government needs a major overhaul and we need to go through all government spending before another cent is spent. That means no funds for health care or anything else we are on a serious downward spiral. There is nothing but waste and fraud.
September 15th, 2009 at 7:49 pm
Mr. Boehner,
We the people don’t want Acorn to just lose funding, we want the tax-exempt status removed and we want AN IMMEDIATE INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION OF ACORN FROM THE BIGGEST CEO TO LOWEST EMPLOYEE. THIS IS WITHOUT DOUBT A CORRUPT ORGANIZATION AND WE DON’T WANT THEM TO HAVE ANY TAX BENEFITS OR ANY PROTECTION BY GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS OR LEGAL OFFICIALS. OBAMA HAS MADE IT CLEAR THAT ACORN IS NOT TO BE TOUCHED, WELL, WE WANT THIS CORRUPTION EXPOSED AND PROSECUTED AND WE WANT IT TO BEGIN IMMEDIATLY. THIS ADMINISTRATION IS HANDING BILLIONS OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS THIS SESPOOL AND WE WANT IT STOPPED.IT’S TIME TO SHOW THE COUNTRY THAT AT LEAST ONE PERSON HAS SOME INTEGRITY AND A SHRED OF HONOR AND DECENCY. STAND UP MR. BOEHNER AND SHOW THE SAME COURAGE THAT SENATOR WILSON SHOWED AND EXPOSE ACORN, SIEU AND AND ALL OF THE REST OF OBAMA’S “PETS” AS GOVERNMENT PROTECTED ORGANIZED CRIME.
September 15th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
Thank you Mr Boehner! Keep fighting the good fight!
September 15th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
I AM SUPPORTING ALL EFFORTS TO TO STOP THE CORRUPT ORGANIZATION.
September 15th, 2009 at 9:13 pm
I whole- heartedly agree with defunding ACORN! And has already been stated by others - fight! And keep fighting! The American people are with you! We are disgusted at how our hard earned money is being wasted!
I also am frustrated at the way Joe Wilson is being treated! He apologized - move on! To think that our reps waste precious time and energy on something like this - disgraceful.
Thanks for keeping us informed and for standing up for what is good and right. Keep at it!
September 15th, 2009 at 10:20 pm
Will our current Attorney General DO HIS JOB???
That’s a whole other issue. This is why Obama put such people in high places…to protect him when the truth
about who and what he has been involved with comes out.
The corruption of this administration will turn this country into another Mexico. They will cover for each other to stay in power and eventually there will be no
law and no justice for ‘we the people’, who will be completely powerless to do anything about it. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. PLEASE
DON’T LET THIS HAPPEN, Mr. Boehner!!
September 16th, 2009 at 5:30 am
Thank you for the job you are doing. We do not want Acorn getting any more money from us tax payers. They are a corrupt organization. Now is the time for the Rebublician Party to get our country back! Wilson showed courage, he is fighting for the people. We also do not want a government run health care system. All of Obamas czars need investagated also, they are in charge of Billions of tax payers money! Stand Up and fight for the American people and please tell those left wingers they will be replaced by the people!
September 16th, 2009 at 7:57 am
You are correct. It is time to expose all waste and excess in the Federal government. ACORN looks like a very good place to start. Let’s get the Federal government smaller and give more freedom to American citizens. That is what our country was founded upon - FREEDOM.
Thanks for your efforts, and keep up the pressure.
September 16th, 2009 at 8:02 am
Thank you very much Representative Boehner! I support you 100%. Every penny going to Acorn should be cut off. There has never been a time in my adult life when I have been so ashamed of my government . . . the corruption and absolute rejection of a large percentage of the American people’s wishes by the Obama administration - beyond that, a defiant arrogance on the part of many, is disturbing beyond belief. We need others like you to be courageous and expose the corruption, wherever it is.
September 16th, 2009 at 9:21 am

Thank you for your perseverence, Mr. Boehner! ACORN needs to be defunded, and Congress needs to be vigilant about where the money goes from the defunding. There is a pretty big umbrella covering several “organizations” that are linked to ACORN.
September 16th, 2009 at 10:17 am
Mr. Boehner,
Thank you for taking a stand against tax payer funding for ACORN.
I also ask that you lead an investigation into ACORN from its inception to now. I believe this will truly expose the fraud and coruption.
Thank you!

I have been waiting for republicans to start acting like they have a backbone. Far too many injustices are done to placate the leftists in our country.
We want a conservative republican congress. try it and see how much support you can get now.
It will shock you all!
Shut down the house if they try to pass health care and start acting like representatives of the people again!
September 16th, 2009 at 12:51 pm
The above comments say it all. It’s time for a real change (not an Obama change). I never thought until recently that our Country would ever need another revolution - if something isn’t done soon to bring back common sense and honesty in government, this peaceful revolution that is just starting may turn into a violent one. We will not give up our freedom without a fight!
September 16th, 2009 at 2:09 pm
Mr. Boehner:
The defunding of Acorn is not going to do anything to solve the problem as they are only a part of a maze of other corrupt organizations (example SEIU) that will support Acorns illegal/immoral activities, using their own taxpayer dollars, unless the whole corrupt organization is defunded. Also the Non Profit status of Acorn and its related organizations must be revolked immediately. A DOJ, FBI and IRS investigation of all factions of this corrupt organization should be initiated immediately.
Please keep fighting for those of us citizens who believe this country is going in then wrong direction and requires immediate correction.
September 17th, 2009 at 3:16 pm
Glad to see that corruption is being addressed.

Mr. Boehner, Good job, but don’t stop until you have weeded out every one of the web of organizations they operate and make sure to use RICO. This is exactly what RICO was created for.
Keep up the good work — We the People are behind you!

Dear Congressman Boehner:
As the Leader of the Floor for the minority party,
I appreciate the efforts of the House and Senate to block further funding of ACORN. However I believe that farther-reaching more compelling action needs to take place. Lets get the IRS, GAO, and yes, even the DNC, and the RNC to demand the Attorney General investigate and dismantle this subversive organization. Anyone in their right mind can see what is going on. Now its time to act and permanently cut off funding, investigate all criminal activity and bring those to justice who are responsible and culpable. I am so sick and tired of this money spewing administration and the caustic agencies and staff who now run the government. If the Attorney General can waste time and money on an investigation of the CIA because they were hunting down and interrogating prisoners who killed more than 2900 Americans on 9-11, then he can make the time to investigate this agency.
Thank you.
