Mega-Bureaucracy: J.E.C. Chart Shows Speaker Pelosi’s New Bill Will Create Unprecedented Health Care Labyrinth

The Joint Economic Committee (JEC) House Republican staff, which earlier this year created a chart mapping the bureaucratic complexity of Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s original health care proposal (H.R. 3200), has combined similar analysis by the House Republican Conference with the earlier chart.  The analysis details new additions to the health care bureaucracy contained in the new version of the Speaker’s bill (H.R. 3962) that were not previously listed.  Let’s just say the Speaker’s vision for government-run health care hasn’t gotten any simpler.

“This is the blueprint for a taxpayer-funded mega-bureaucracy,” said House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH).  “The new chart is an astonishing and unsettling glimpse of the future that awaits American health care, should H.R. 3962 be passed by the House and signed into law.”

The chart, completed at the direction of Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX), the committee’s ranking House Republican Member, shows that the Pelosi plan has grown even more complex in the months since it was originally unveiled by congressional Democrats.  The new bill - expected to be brought to a vote in the House as early as Saturday - contains all of the bureaucracy of the original plan, plus a whole lot more, the chart illustrates.  The full chart can be seen here:

Speaker Pelosi’s Government Takeover of Health Care

“The American people have spoken.  They don’t want their health care replaced by massive government bureaucracy.  This chart shows the Democratic leadership hasn’t listened,” Boehner said.  “Instead of starting over on a common-sense plan to improve our health care system, Speaker Pelosi and her allies have created a bureaucratic beast that will end the American health care system as we know it.  I commend Ranking House Republican Brady and his team for illustrating what’s at stake.”

In addition to establishing the Mother of All Bureaucracies, House Republicans note, the Pelosi health care bill will kill millions of small business jobs at a time when our nation’s unemployment rate has exceeded 10 percent.  It will also cut Medicare, pile massive debt on future generations, increase Americans’ health care costs, and use federal funds to pay for abortion.

Republicans have offered a better solution: a common-sense, step-by-step approach to health care reform, which can be seen in full legislative text at http://healthcare.gop.gov/.

[…] For an idea of the bureaucratic maze that the Pelosi bill would create, take a look at this new chart put out by the Joint Economic […]

  2. Renee Gerbich Says:

    Mr. Boehner:

We have got to stop this health care monstrocity. I did not vote for Obama….I knew he would not be good for our country but never dreamed things could get this bad. Most Americans are worried. We need to stop our country from moving into a socialist state before it is too late. And all he can do is blame Bush for everything. I’ll bet some of those “Bush haters” out there are wondering what that was all about compared to this mess we are in under these radical left wing socialists.

  3. Scott Daniels Says:

    Power to the People.

Vote NO on HR 3962 or we will vote NO on sending you back to Washington.

  4. jay hiatt Says:

End this socilism NOW, the american people will not put up with facsism or marxism. Obama needs to be tried for crimes against the people of the US and crimes against the constitution.
I’m not a lawer but would seem obvious to me the his policies are intentionally trying to collapse the free market the dollar and our economy. To me this is lending aid to our enemies.
The social tension is incredilbly high and the house needs to stop this bill. Or the people that vote for this bill will lose their jobs not only in 2010 but also in 2012 mark my words we the people will NOT forget.

  5. Edson B. Waite, Jr. Says:

Please stop this madness to take away what little I have left for my retirement, PLEASE?

  6. Joe Hoagland Says:

Why has the Republican leadership failed to show details discovered by people who are not affiliated with/under the auspices of a political party. Two examples, the bill will create 111 new federal government bureaus and the FACTS concerning the many elements contained in the surplus bill that are already law pertaining to the agencies and funding already authorized because the bill was not read?

Hello, is anyone listening or are we, the people, going to continue to be buffered by the Republican Party leadership much the same as NY-23? Hello?

  7. Richard deLeon Says:

Why can’t we stop this madness. How come there not listening to us? My head is spinning.

  8. RG Stewart Says:

If this bill passes, I would expect most of both houses would join the 10.2% unemployment roles- guilt be association.
This is the time to stand up and be immovable. Talk to your colleages, and assure them we are not unaware.
This sentiment is related to MLK Jr’s quote, when he said ” …at the end of it all, it was the silence of my friends that I remembered, not the words of my enemies.”

Don’t sit passively, and bemoan this Democratic atrocity, stand up, break protocol if necessary, but stand strong, and speak forcibly against this takeover.
    We will not forget 2009.

  9. A. J. Adams Says:

STOP THIS INSANITY NOW. Vote NO on HR3962 or we will vote NO on sending you back to Washington. You were elected to serve the American people NOT for any of these proposed Health Care Reforms. Most Americans DO NOT want our money paying for abortions or providing Health Care for illegal immigrants, limited Health Care, be able to keep our own physicians, no more taxes and lower premiums. This is our country and we want our country back. No more stimulus packages that have not done what was promised. Daily, we as Americans see our nation going Socialist. Have any of you read the Constitution?? STOP AND START ALL OVER. THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT HOW YOU ARE VOTING.

  10. Sandra Pieralisi Says:

Vote NO on Pelosi’s train wreck of a health care bill, or else we will vote no to sending you back to Washington when we go to polls in less than 12 months.

  11. Johnie Burkhalter Says:

This bill is not health care reform. It is the end of affordable health care for us now and far into the future. We cannot afford the increase in taxes and job losses that this will cause. Vote NO.

  12. Becky Clepper Says:

VOTE NO on HR3962. Tell the men and women in Washington they better listen to the people…the people have spoken, and if they ignore us they may find themselves without a job!!!!

  13. oleta blakeman Says:

This is big government at its worst. Our country and our economy are based on an individual’s right to make decisions for themselves. This bill will force government medical insurance upon us with penalties for not participating. This is not the free America that we all love. Health care does need some reform but not at the expense of our freedom. Even if there were a way to finance it without increasing taxes which there isn’t this bill is a breach of our basic freedom and free market system. We must stop this bill before it is too late. We we lay down and let Congress and President Obama just take our freedom to choose away without putting up a fight? Write your Senators and Representatives. The pen is mightier than the sword. Resist this usurpation of our rights before we lose those rights. Please take this seriously.

  14. Dallas Walker Says:

Pelosi can not understand the complexity of this bill. How in the world can anyone consider this aatrocity seriously? Moron doesn’t describe how utterly stupid this bill is. This administration has joined Obama in his efforts to completly destroy the American way of life. Thank heaven I’m an old person.

  15. Linda Sanders Says:

When has our government listened to we the people? We are so far removed from our Constitution, this is what happens to government when you remove the fences. Instead of providing for the common welfare and protection of the states, it has become a voracious monster where unlike the guy with 12 kids (who had that fixed)and knows he has enough, it wants to control everything to satisfy the power hunger of all it’s operatives. Instead of a good steward of our country, it believes that it, the government, is the country. Obama is just riding the crest of the wave created for him by almost all politicians (see him there he goes hanging 10!)We need government out of our daily lives. But to do that we all need to climb into the pit and get our hands dirty. We need to know the people that are elected in the future. We could have in the past, we just didn’t. We need people who don’t want the government offices but will get in there and reduce government. Do you really think these politicians want to give up their cherry lives? They are only cherry because they have usurped our power. Let’s take it back. Let’s rock the house, let’s kick out the pretenders of smaller government, less intervention, and retake our party; the Republican elephant can carry the load!

As for this health care “reform”, how can any logical person state that spending a TRILLION Dollars for the infrastructure to sell US insurance would fly by any state insurance official? The phones should have been flying off the hook at the Insurance commission office of every state. Yet the politicians have kept everyone up in a state of panic. The Trojan Horse is in the Capital and it is in need of disposal.

  16. Dallas Walker Says:

Look at it this way, every minority in the country will have a government job with a big title and nice office. The jobless rate will drop to almost nothing. Talk about change……….

  17. DavidM Says:

    Mr. Boehner:

This must be stopped. Do you have bureaucracy chart for the republican alternative to compare this mess against. A simple pictorial comparison may go a long way.

Keep up the good Conservative. We want conservative alternative ideas not republican ones.

  18. Betsy Medina Says:

Mr.Boehner: I’m a simple person and simple with words. Vote NO on HR 3962 or we will vote NO on sending you back to Washington. I will pass my message on to my adult kids so they can pass on to their family and friends; to my family that is scattered across America and they will pass on to their family and friends as well. We the people are the powerful ones, not Congress. I guess you will just have to see to find out, unfortunately. We vote you in, we vote you out. Thank you and God Bless America!!

  19. Dean Cameron Says:

I am very hopefull that this will stall in Congress and that the Dems will “see the light” in recent Gov races that people want “Cautious and Conservative” not “massive and impetious” changes that will serve only to create huge tax increases and not solve the problems addressed in the first place. Tort Reform is the first brick in the building that needs repair. Let’s keep the huge premiums that Equipment, Docs and Hospitals have to pay managable and we will start to see cost reductions right away.

  20. frank gettelfinger Says:

Leave the present medicare coverage just as it is. It meets my requirments just fine.

  21. Sharon Hawthorne Says:

I have called, emailed, written and faxed until I am blue in the face. This is disgusting. How can elected officials not respond to the wishes of their constituents? Well, let me tell you we are tired of the way we are treated. This isn’t about parties. This is about principles. We will no longer vote party lines, we will vote patriots. Take heed and change the Republican party back to the conservative party lines that it was established on. Get out your position and the people will vote for a Republican. The NY 23 district should have been a lesson learned.

  22. Ken and Diane Woods Says:

Vote NO on HR 3962 those who vote for it will not get our votes.

  23. Judy Krahl Says:

Please, stop and think about the massive beurocracy we will be setting up if this bill is allowed to pass. President Reagan said the closest thing to eternity we will see while we live is a government beurocracy. Yes, our health care system needs work but not a government takeover. If I take my car to the mechanic and the windshields are not working and he says the car is not fixable and it should be crushed and I need a new car, I take it to a different mechanic. Our health care system, while flawed, doesn’t need a government fix. Vote No on HR 3962

  24. Andrew Buck Says:

This is a pretty bad rendidtion of a orgnizational chart. It is pretty obvious that who ever asked that this be made wanted to present a complicated picture. There are many ways to simplify the presentation based on just the information provided. This makes a good show, but is clearly not an honest representation.

  25. Guy Peters Says:

    Vote NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. Carla Ford Says:

    HR3962 is a complete JOKE !!!!!!!!

    Vote NO on HR 3962.

I have been listening to cspan for 2 days now and am convinced the democrats do not listen to their constituents or even care what the majority of Americans want. Debate? Nope, forget about what YOU want and listen to what we(Americans) want.
Bi-partisan, I do not think so. Democrats will not even listen to the republicans plan.
I am not speaking as a democrat or republican here, I am speaking as an American citizen.
Reform is an absolute must in our healthcare, but this
HR3962, all 2000 pages is NOT the answer. The answer is to fix what is broken, amend the problems, work in unison, the house and senate need to remember they are americans first, not congressmen first.
    Vote NO on HR3962

  27. karlinsync Says:

VOTE NO. Pelsio’s Bill will demand all to participate or face fines and and/or jail. Where in our Consitution allows the federal govovernment to do this to the people? And why why is Congress exempt from the Bill? This is sheer and utter madness! The march to Socialism is here and our Congress is the enemy.

  28. Kathy Strunk Says:

This craziness has got to stop….this is not Health Care Reform, this is Nancy Pelosi’s ego trip. When are Americans going to wake up to the damage this administation is causing our country.

  29. Novella Wellington Says:

Mr. Boehner isn’t there a way to try the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) method on the health care Reform efforts? How about Everyone agrees to do only 3 things to reduce costs? Try it out for a year, then if it works, and only if it works, add 3 more things and so forth. There has to be a way to cut costs and be more efficient at the same time. Here is one example… after treating a person who is in the country illegally, they are sent back to their homeland, that stops all welfare to them and all related costs for subsidizing their living expenses here in the US and it may free-up a job for a legal citizen. There’s a 99% chance that they wouldn’t be paying for their health care in the first place & they don’t make enough money to contribute to the “tax pot” to pay for their care in a round about way. Our state is paying Millions of dollars a month for dialysis treatments for non-paying illegals and that is just not right!!!

  30. Kenneth Belisle Says:

This bill must be stopped……..anyone who votes for this bill must be voted out of office the next time they run.

  31. Bruce Says:

My question is quite simple. How can they still blame President Bush for EVERYTHING when the liberals took control in 2006 ? How does that work ?

    Fish

  32. Mary Olsen Says:

Vote no. The future of my children depends on it. How did we get to the place where the government can stroll in and snap up entire sectors of the private economy? This is un-American, and I am angry that our hard won freedom has come to this. Vote no, or we will in November 2010.

  33. Michele Says:

Can this be stopped NOW. Please encourage all to vote NO

  34. M.Sauder Says:

This is just crazy. Trying to scare Americans into thinking giving them health care is a bad thing. These scare tactics are being used because the Republican Politicians are being paid by lobbyist to vote no on health care. Please folks, turn off Fox news and read for yourself. You are being used for their own agenda. This is so sad that Republicans are more concern with themselves rather than the good of the people.

  35. Susan Reinsma Says:

PLEASE, PLEASE VOTE NO ON HR 3962!!!! THANKYOU, AND FOR ALL OF YOUR HARD WORK AS WELL! SUSAN

  36. Mary Lomax Says:

Please vote NO on HR 3962 or we will vote NO on sending you back to Washington. I am very concerned about the survival of our American values eroding under government control.

  37. Ida Frade Says:

I’d like to see a larger…readable schematic of the this chart. Thank you! What an incredible amount of work!!!

  38. Margaret Luongo Says:

I have marched in DC 9/12/09,written to my state reps, found local and state candidates that I can support. I have told Rep James McGovern (D) MA that not only will he not get my vote, but I promise to use all my resources to help elect who ever runs against him in the next election…

  39. Rita burke Says:

Vote all Democrates out of office, I am tired of paying taxes to the government….Cut spending NOW…..

  40. Rita burke Says:

Vote No, I agree vote them all out of office who ever is in on all this spending……

  41. Rich Botlon Says:

I can’t wait till next year..We will drain the swamp as I heard the present leaders saythey would do..Stand back it is going to be a barn cleaning!!!!

  42. Rich Botlon Says:

I can’t wait till next year..We will drain the swamp. We are going to clean out the barn.

  43. Rob Z Says:

Sickening, very sickening bill by Pelosi and her Lap Dogs… people should be up in arms over this and other stupid job killing ideas in the House right now.

  44. Spudder Says:

This is a dog and pony show, the democrats are lying thru their teeth, one congressman from Ct. said that the rep from 23 was in favor of the health bill, he changed his minf when pelosi said hello do it my way or else, this is a 3 card monte buying votes why not put these momos in the clink lol

  45. Rob Z Says:

Dan Burton, Mike Pence, Evan Bayh, Dick Lugar, etc… better vote NO on this or face voter rebellion in 2010.

  46. Mike Terwilliger Says:

Pelosi’s 2,000 page H.R. 3962 health bill is terrible. It raises taxes on individuals, insures, medical device manufactures and small businesses. It cuts Medicare by $500 billion over 10 years just when its enrollments will increase by 30% due to more baby boomers retiring during those years. Pelosi’s bill creates over 100 new government agencies adding horrendous costs and layers of bureaucracy placed between you and your doctor and hospital.

The bill is designed to eliminate private health insurance and force everyone into the government plan. Eventually leaving us with no alternative just like they have in Canada and The United Kingdom. The government plan will have a monopoly on medical care and will control costs by limiting access to expensive specialists, treatments, and diagnostic tests. For many illnesses, like cancer, early detection and fast treatment are crucial for survival. But, a monopoly doesn’t need to provide timely service and correct treatment because the patient or consumer of health care has no other alternative but the government plan. This lack of competition has destroyed health care in Canada, The United Kingdom, and other countries with government run health care.

The bill’s costs are underestimated to sell it better and we are not being told the truth about its real costs and affect on our lives. Massive tax increases, cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, and coercive interference into our eating, working, and leisure activities. Under a government plan our lives from birth to death will be controlled by numerous government agencies, boards, and committees. Under the guise of controlling health care costs, preventing injuries and activities the government deems hazardous.

There are many less expensive, more efficient, and less intrusive solutions to reform and to improve our health care. Why aren’t these being offered , discussed, and debated? Pelosi’s 2000 page bill doesn’t limit malpractice suits, doesn’t allow insurers to sell across state lines, doesn’t allow premiums deductible to the individual, doesn’t allow health insurance to be portable, and doesn’t expand health savings accounts.

  47. Mike Terwilliger Says:

New Rep Bill Owens (D) NY 23rd breaks four campaign promises.
    1. Rep. Bill Owens, NY 23rd Congressional District said during his campaign that the public option had no place in the health care reform bill. Now Owens intends to vote in favor of Pelosi’s HR 3962 bill even though it contains a public option.
    2. Owens said during his campaign that he was firmly opposed to cutting Medicare benefits. Pelosi’s bill cuts Medicare by $500 billion over 10 years.
    3. Owens said during his campaign he was opposed to taxing health care benefits. Pelosi’s bill taxes private insurers health care benefits.
    4. Owens said during his campaign that he was opposed to increasing taxes on the middle class. Pelosi’s bill increases taxes on individuals, small and large businesses, private health insurance, and medical device manufactures.

  48. Kevin Keenon Says:

    Mr. Boehner

Thank you for keeping us apprised of the situation we find our selves in. The need for health care reform is real, that I understand. But I see our country being taken over by a bunch of Democrats that want to take over this great country by making us more and more dependent on the Government. I am saddened by how our country is going. Please keep up the good work in your/our fight to get back to a country based on personal freedom and the Constitution.

  51. Marilou Rabing Says:

I pray to God that you can stop this from passing. They are saying this a.m. that after a early, early morning session ended they may still be shy up to 10 votes in the House.

Thank you! My husband & I are both seniors and are worried about where this will lead if all of America is put on Medicare+. Washington has done such an awful job of running Medicare I can’t imagine the nightmare it would be if this bill that take up to 1/6th of the GDP will bring. God help us all if this passes.

  52. Timothy H. Ward Says:

What a mess… Vote NO!!! Who’ll pay for this mess? Our Catch all is the 2010 elections and the courts when the first people who do not enroll are sent to jail and get there day in court and the Gov’t tries to jusity this in the General Welfare Clause… Not even Justice Sotomayer can stop this!!!

  53. Cheryl St.Clair Says:

  54. concerned american Says:

all these policies that obama and his group of radicals are trying to shove down our throats are nothing more than a attempt to move our country into socialism we need to pull togather as free americans and fight this all the way.

  55. William Bruns Says:

    Mr. Boehner,

I am getting very upset with the leadership of this present administration and their elitist attitudes wanting to control “We The People”. I have never been active in the political arena (but always voted) but am willing to do what ever it takes to protect the Freedoms we all have fought for over these past 250 years. I am concerned about the opportunity and freedom for my children and grandchildren in future years. I pray that more concerned people will get involved in their local communities to elect individuals with integrity, who want to serve the people and protect our great constitution.

    Sincerely,

    William Bruns

  56. Anne Richardson Says:

Please don’t let this bloated health bill pass! I don’t want the government in charge of my health care. People who can’t afford insurance can get care at most any hospital and small business cannot afford to add to their cost of staying in business. Without small business the economy of this nation will sink lower and unemployment will rise even more! Take back our nation! Make the people proud to be Americans!

  57. mildred truelove Says:

We need this bill like we need a lifelong tooth ache. And we don’t need Speaker Pelosi. She’s been a tooth ache. The quicker we get her replaced the better for all concerned. She’s forgotten that she’s an elected official and she works for the people that elected her. There is no open mindedness in her.

  58. Steve Campion Says:

Honorable Representative Boehner, We all know HR3962 isn’t even remotely about health care. The liberal wing of the Democrat Party as well as President Obana and his administration isn’t interested in anyones’ health or the care of it. They want to control and manipulate this Republic and what better way than to get a bill into law that will accomplish this. If these loons were really interested in our health they would not have included funded abortion on demand or conveniently left out rigid tort reform and left out the ability of Humana, Unicare, Universal Health Care, Blue Shield, Kaiser, etc. to provide coverage within and across any zip code in the Country.

  59. Michael R. McCarrey Says:

Nobody could want this. Pelosi must be mad as a hatter to say so in public. This is like the Federal Reserve Act. How Corrupt. No one should so much as be allowed to pass gas in Washington until all the corruption has been ferreted out, removed from power, and locked securely away in federal prison.

  60. Nancy Lawson Says:

    Dear Mr. Boehner,

I, like most Americans, am worried about what is happening in our country. Our freedoms are being eroded and the Health Care Bill is just another example of that. During an address on the house floor about health care, President Obama looked right at us and said that illegal immigrants would not be covered. When the gentleman from South Carolina said our President lied, the Democratic house was in an uproar. Since when do we need to applogize for telling the truth! I am the first to admit that President Bush was not a perfect president, he made his share of mistakes, but never once during that 8 years was I concerned about my safty! Now I am concerned everyday. One of our democratic presidents said, “Walk softly and carry a big stick.” Clearly this president has not learned the lessons of the past.
I have written my democratic representative twice and
reminded him that he lives in a state where the vast majority do not favor this bill. He would be best served by remembering he works for the people, not the democratic leadership in the house.

  61. Beth Williams Says:

    Congressman Boehner:

As a resident of America and Ohio I would like to express my hearfelt thanks and deepest gratitude to you and your fellow congressional members that are standing up for our freedom, or liberty, our right to choose, and our opportunity for prosperity. Your dilligence in working to defeat this obamination of a Health Care reform bill, as well as all others that threaten the secruity and freedom of this great nation.

I was there on Thursday, was moved by your words and those of the other speakers. I was able to meet with Representative Boccieri and expressed my opinions, beliefs and feelings to him directly.

Keep up the good work and help us fight to restore this country to the Greatness our founding fathers so vigerously fought for!

    Sincerely,

    Beth A Williams, MBA

  62. David Says:

Please support the Dems on getting something passed. We need something and all this fighting isn’t getting us anywhere.

There is not one person, who heard Obam speak while reunning for office that was deceived. He was a very easy study and told everything that he was going to do this country. It was all bad from a conservative’s view point & no doubts were left unsettled.

  68. Pam Mead Says:

My family does not want ANY government run health care at all. What part of no do you not understand. Why can’t you get that through those thick skulls of yours. Our beloved country is on the fast track to becoming a communist country. We want smaller government not bigger. You had better vote no on this government take over, labeled the health bill, or we will vote you out next election. The republicans had better wake up, get a back bone and start fighting for this country to make it #1 like it is supposed to be. Stop importing so much c*** from China and start drilling our own oil fields. We are being set up for more disasters like what happened at Ft. Hood on Thursday if you don’t start looking to our interests instead of all the special interest groups.

    Eat up, Republicans.

  72. Jack Morris Says:

Rather than constructing a bipartisan health care reform bill, Speaker Pelosi has chosen to use the Democratic majority in the House to ram through this despicable health care legislation, complete with funding for abortions, cuts in Medicare and a trillion plus price tag. Negative fall out from this bill (if passed) will include pay cuts to physicians and subsequent shortages of medical care, which in turn will result in health care rationing and “Death Panels” as Governor Palin pointed out earlier this year. Further, it has been shown at hundreds of town hall meetings, the march on Washington and countless other opinion polls that the people do not want this massive change to occur within the US health industry, opting instead for incremental changes to correct problem areas. It is obvious that Speaker Pelosi and President Obama do not care about the will of the people, and are viewing this issue as a major power and control grab of a one sixth of the US economy. Should the Speaker and her House followers choose to ignore the will of the people, we will speak in 2010 armed with the power of our votes. I urge all House members to carefully weigh what is at stake here and consider the election results in Virginia and New Jersey last week.

  74. Medina, Fl. Says:

How is it this plan is so good for the citizens and the administration and Congress does not apply the rule of becoming a member for it, too and are keeping their Cadillac Plan? It will be an honest way to show their honesty and their approval for it by signing their names on it. What is good for the goose is good for the gander! We taxpayers are paying for their plan, so they will have only one bill for all and may be will save some dollars, too?
Do they trust the bill? I don’t think so, is just a
political agenda on their part. It’s not about health care at all, just want to push it down our throats to forced their will on all of us. Wake up Americans! Am not blinded and will not be, by God’s Grace.

  75. Paul Wilson Says:

I am of the age, where passage of this monster will kill me and many, many other seniors. It must be defeated and Pelosi needs to be sent back to San Francisco, after all they are the ones that poisoned the water of the political world by sending her to Washington.
Living in California, I feel the need to apologize to the country for the SCUM that we have dumped on the country. I am not going to list the names because there are way too many, yes Boxer and Waxman I’m talking about you and the others.

Time to tell them no way on healthcare reform. They clearly do not know how to perform the task appropriately and cost effectively. VOTE NO!!

  78. Lonnie Jager Says:

    Dear Mr. Boehner:

I am 64 and recovering from breast cancer. I was diagnosed in February and had my surgery on March 13th. I had 35 radiation treatments and am now in the recovery phase.

The doctors and hospital were wonderful and took very good care of me! All in all the bills were over $100,000 and we were left with $5,000 in out of pocket expenses! We were glad to pay our share. Our insurance company paid the rest! I was never denied any of the procedures or tests that were needed to make sure the cancer had not spread to any other part of my body. I am very happy with the care that I got from my doctors, hospital and insurance company!

I live just 10 minutes from the Canadian border and met a lot of people that were coming down from Canada to seek treatment in the US. They were all on waiting lists in Canada and told me that they could not get the treatments up there without a long wait! I feel blessed that I live in the US and was able to have everything I needed!

My husband also had heart trouble when he was 64 and too young for Medicare. He also had excellent care and was not denied any of the care he needed!

We DO NOT want H.R. 3962 to pass! My husband was a union worker for 35 years and retired from the union. We get our insurance through the Laborers Union. We, of course, pay a monthly premium for this insurance. If this bill passes, we are afraid that the union will stop providing this insurance for us and we will end up at the mercy of the so called Public Option! We are very worried about that!

It is the seniors of this country that have made it what it is today! We deserve better than having our Medicare, which we paid for with years of hard work, cut. To be at the mercy of this monstrosity is a travesty! We also deserve better than to be considered not useful to this country and not worth the care that we need in the last years of our life!

    Sincerely,
    Lonnie L. Jager

  79. Lisa Says:

Please do whatever you can to stop this plan from becoming law. I do not want the government to take away any more of my rights and freedoms. We need to reward people who make responsible choices and stop rewarding those who continue to take advantage of our system. Yes, we need to control rising medical costs, but our country needs jobs. I can make better choices for myself and my family than some government employee can. This is just a move to make more people dependent on the government, and to increase the size of it.

  80. Eva Brown Says:

VOTE NO ON HR 3962 I KNOW OF 5 CASES OF INDIVIDUALS WHO WORK FOR A LOCAL MUNICIPALITY THAT PAYS FOR THEIR HEALTHCARE COVERAGE AND OFFERS COVERAGE FOR THE EMPLOYEES TO COVER THEIR FAMILIES FOR A LOW COST. THEY CHOOSE NOT TO BECAUSE THEY CAN GET FREE CARE AT THE EMERGENCY ROOM. ONE’S WIFE HAD A LIVER TRANSPLANT FREE NO CHARGE TO THEM. ANOTHR HAD A BABY FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE THEY HAD NO INSURANCE EVENTHOUGH THEY HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO BUY IT. THE CBO SAYS ONLY 2% OF THE YOUNGER AMERICANS THAT NOW HAVE NO INSURANCE COVERAGE AT THEIR CHOICE EVENTHOUGH THEY CAN AFFORD IT!
CONGRESS IS OVERHAULING HEALTHCARE BECAUSE THEY WOULD RRATHER SPEND THEIR MONEY ON OTHER THINGS SO NOW I AM
BEING FORCED TO PAY FOR INSURANCE OPTIONS THAT I DO NOT NEED BUT ARE REQUIRED TO BUY UNDER THIS OUTRAGEOUS BBILL.

  81. DICK JENKINS Says:

VOTE NO or YOU WILL GO !!! WE DON’T WANT MORE GOVERMENT !!

  82. Bennett LaMarca Says:

    Dear Representative,

In less than a page I say , Please do not go forward with the health care bill. 2,000 pages! You know we have a lot of unnecessary red tape. Please stop the spending. The banks bailed & I’m still paying them off. Big business bailed out, I’m still paying my bills. We own a car manufacturing industry, WHY? These businesses should have failed. Who is bailing me out? ME! Stop taxing me with these outrageous bill removing my rights. You don’t change 94% to fix 6%. That’s just wrong.

Additionally, it took 54 men 2 days to debate 1 page. Our Constitution. How do you debate 2,000 pages with intelligence?
Let us also point to the fact that you have already passed part of health care in the previous stimulus & people are understanding this. Then all the urgency, when the fact that most of this will not start until 2013, except for the taxes…
    Respectfully,
    BLM

  83. Mike Says:

The American citizens are tired of all the lies coming out of Washington. We are not stupid and can see right through the BS. We are frankly offended that the eletest in Washington think we are that stupid. This monster bill is not about health care reform. Its about control of you and me. There are much easier ways to cover the estimated 30mil people in this country who dont have health care.

  84. Patricia Lanza Says:

    Dear Mr. Boehner,

Keep the light shining on the Democrats as they are like anything that lives in a dark place, scurrying about when the light comes on. The more light we have on this Whitehouse and leaders in both houses the more we see that is truly disturbing. The bill before the house now is an Obamanation and you need to pull out all the stops to KILL THE BILL.

  85. Darla Buechner Says:

vote NO on HR3962. I had emergency back surgery 16 months ago. Cost over $98k. I paid nothing and had an excellant surgeon. I want to keep my current health care, doctor, and hospital.

  86. Carol H. Says:

The government has no business trying to dictate the distribution of health to the citizens of this country. I have been a registered nurse for 25 years and while the health care system does need revamping, it does not mean reinventing the wheel. My colleagues and I see a lot of wastage within the hospital, from supplies, to tests that one would question the necessity of. Every patient who comes to our hospital is treated, insurance or not! It is the law. If reimbursement are cut to physicians and hospitals, the backlash will be fewer primary physicians or, those who take Medicare/Medicaid will cease to do so. If reimbursment to hospitals decreases, the far reaching effects of which could be lay offs for nurses. There are already nursing shortages, nurse patient ratios unacceptable to the point of being dangerous. Well Ms. Pelosi, if your bill goes through I hope you show up at a hospital one day when your nurse/patient ratios are so high, you faded into being the patient in bed so and so who hasn’t been seen all morning. Oh, I forget, your health care bill will not apply to you and your cronies.

  87. Cody Ragle Says:

HELLO - this is not at all about health care for anyone! It is another excuse for them to have more control over our lives - a chicken in every pot!

The “Progressives” have been working on this as long as I’ve been alive - IT IS ALL ABOUT CONTROL AND POWER!

  88. Cody Says:

HELLLLLO - this legislation is not about health care, just like the cap and tax bill - remember what Rahm the Rat said: “Never let a crisis go to waste”. It is what these so-called “Progressives” have been putting in place for many years. They are elitist and think we are all stupid and need to be controlled and told what to do because we don’t know any better. They are sick, sick individuals! It is another excuse for them to have more control over our lives, and more government programs that they don’t know how to run anyway and are always fixing what they already did. “Democrats agenda - a chicken in every pot” THAT’S WHAT THIS IS ABOUT - Oh, and redistribution of wealth to all non-producers. I don’t mind helping those that cannot help themselves, but not lazy non-producers.

    God help us!

  89. Bobbie Herald Says:

I have tried so hard to stop this. It breaks my heart. I was brought up being so proud of this country and it feels like we have no say anymore. I believe we have lost this because they aren’t listening but I know they will be voted out in the next elections. Maybe for the first time in a very long time we can get honest politicians.

    Bobbie

  90. Earline Stuck Says:

The public has asked that you not pass this bill. On many levels honest comments, suggestions and facts have been presented. However, no one is listening. Is this a bill you would want for yourself, your family or even your aging parents? The answer is no. Government needs to be smaller and less invasive into the american public. If this bill is government way of making jobs, then you have lost sight of what is needed. Putting more money into a dark hole is not an answer to positively solving any problem. Congress does not work for lobbiest, interest groups or your party - the public is where you should place your concern for first. The president works for the people not for other concerns. Why not take the time and do a bill minus of pork but full of items because it is the correct items needed. Think long and hard about why this bill is not desired.

  91. Doug Wieboldt Says:

You folks who are concerned about your current health care coverage shouldn’t be concerned.
    You get to keep it.
Other people who have no coverage get to get it. That’s a good thing, since they will actually have health care rather than health care though the G. W. Bush emergency room health care plan.
The GOP plan would only cover a fraction those without health insurance, which makes insurance more expensive for us all. The Democrats health care will cover almost everyone, and is much fairer than the GOP plan.

  92. Becky B Says:

Can’t hardly wait to get into the voting booth and vote them all out. Those that would vote in what the American People clearly stated to take time on, to get it right.

  93. Rich Kenney Says:

Why didn’t the Republicans come up with a health care plan during the eight years Bush was in office? Their constant whining has become not only predictable but quite amusing…

  94. Andrew Says:

What in the world is this administration thinking? I thought I voted for a leader with clear and logical independent thinking. I was so wrong. From the healthcare reform bill to just about every type of rhetoric coming from the President’s administration, this is getting embarrassing. Vote NO for the Pelosi healthcare bill and let your congressmen/congresswomen know with no uncertain terms.

  95. Matt Says:

I saw a link here on Governor Palin’s Facebook page, and I was interested because she said that it was from the Joint Economic Committee. But it’s actually from the committee’s Republican staff! It other words, it’s just another one-sided partisan slam from Washington.

Sigh…time to delete it, like all the other one-sided stuff that comes from Washington. Thanks for misleading me, Sarah.

  96. Charles Williams Says:

Good powerful comparative summary of Republican plan compared to Democrat bill, but came much too late for us to use in informing our friends and in our arguments with Reps.

  97. Jason Says:

I’m tired of politician’s local and federal, digging in my pockets. If the spending doesn’t stop, we the people, will find your replacements!!!!!! I will start grass roots movements in 11 states that allow early voting and work tirelessly to register voters. If you’re a politician, democrat, republican, or independent, and vote and/or voted to mandate health care, wake up, re-election is in jeopardy. We’re tired of taxation!!!! Deficit natural hogwash…directly or indirectly, our taxes will pay for this.

  98. John Vaughan Says:

The Health Care Plan as proposed by the Democrtic led Congress is one more step in making the American Citizen a slave to government control by taking away freedoms that make America the Greatest Country on earth! Stop the instanity and the march to communism NOW by voting NO on this bill.

  99. janet ryan Says:

Thank you for everything you are doing to stop this madness.

  100. Janet Kilburn-Phillips Says:

Thank you for the chart of the Pelosi insurance bill. Is it possible for us to have one of the GOP insurance bill to use as a comparison. It would be a terrific tool for those of us who are fighting on a daily basis for our freedom.

    Thank you,

  101. Jim Tippetts Says:

Let me put this thing in a simple light. I have a cabin in Idaho. A while ago, I was searching the internet for solar and wind power equipment to put electricity in the cabin. I wrote down prices and websites so I could return and buy when the time was right. Shaortly therafter, I read in the news that congres had passed a subsidy for taxpayers using alternate power sources. That subsidy was, if I remember correctly $1400 per household. Oh Boy!, I thought, the time has come to buy power systems. On returning to the websites I had previously visited, I discovered that their prices had gone up universally by $1400 per system. Now, to apply that to the health care fisaco, we are going to be paying the same amount afterwards if this bs passes as we are now, but we will also be paying a lot more in taxes to get the government subsidies plus costs of the humongous beauracracy which will be created. In my opinion, not a step forward for the American people, Just an unconstitutional power grab for our socialistic politicians.

  102. Carlton Schoenborn Says:

I have been against this bill and the first attempt by the House because: 1. I can’t fathom the extent of the bill as written because I do not know what effect all the references will have on this bill and others. 2. I do not believe “most” Americans want this political change to a system that is only partially broke. 3. If passed by the Senate I fear the deficit generated by enactement of the bill will lead to a bankrupt U.S., and the dollar will be too vulnerable to survive in this economic climate. Couple passing this bill with “Cap and Tax” and the formula for the downfall of the U.S. will be complete.
Keep up the fight to bring sanity back to our government and I hope real Americans can elect more responsible candidates to fill the idiots void on the other side of the aisle.

  103. Kaleb Klein Says:

We have got to stop this health care monstrosity. I did not vote for Obama.I knew he would not be good for our country but never dreamed things could get this bad. Most Americans are worried. We need to stop our country from moving into a socialist state before it is too late. And all he can do is blame Bush for everything. I’ll bet some of those “Bush haters” out there are wondering what that was all about compared to this mess we are in under these radical left wing socialists.
