The Paris Agreement Threatens U.S. Competitiveness While Giving China a Pass
House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul (TX-10)
Energy Innovation Agenda: Introduction
Bill: Paris Transparency and Accountability Act

On his very first day in office, President Biden signed an executive order to have the United States rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement, once again bypassing ratification by the United States Congress. As House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul will tell you, this was an irresponsible move that will cost Americans trillions of dollars while giving China, the world’s biggest carbon emitter, a free pass to continue polluting.

Instead, House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican McCaul and his committee colleagues are introducing the Paris Transparency and Accountability Act to ensure proper oversight over the commitments President Biden plans to make on behalf of the American people. It makes certain those commitments do not jeopardize our national security, given China’s rising influence as an adversary and human rights abuser.
