Rep. McKinley and a Local Miner Discuss Importance of Carbon Capture
Rep. David McKinley (WV-01)
Energy Innovation Agenda: Innovation
Bill: H.R. 1761 The Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage Innovation Act
Rep. McKinley recently took the opportunity to talk with a local miner of Tunnel Ridge Mine outside Wheeling, WV. The two talked about how carbon capture is one way that coal mines like Tunnel Ridge Mine can continue to stay in business in the face of President Biden’s energy policies that seek to threaten his job security and that of thousands of other Americans.
Earlier this year as part of the Securing Cleaner American Energy agenda, a Republican-led package that addresses climate change risks and spurs the development and deployment of clean energy infrastructure, Rep. McKinley supported the inclusion of his bill, the CCUS Innovation Act. This legislation promotes the development of innovative carbon capture, utilization, and storage projects through the Department of Energy loan guarantee program. Investing in carbon capture technology will keep American workers working, and fossil fuels in the necessary mix.
